Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Homebridge platform plugin for Wireless Sensor Tags (https://wirelesstag.net)

homebridge-wireless-sensor-tags

Homebridge platform plugin for Wireless Sensor Tags.

This is an update of the discontinued rodtoll/homebridge-wireless-sensor-tag plugin for current Homebridge (1.8+ and 2.x) and Node.js (20, 22, or 24). The original npm name is still taken, so this plugin is published as homebridge-wireless-sensor-tags.

Each tag is exposed as a HomeKit accessory with:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity (when the tag reports it)
  • Occupancy (detected while the tag is alive and in range)
  • Battery level

Occupancy is not detected when a tag is inactive or out of range, matching the original plugin.

Requirements

Installation

Install from the Homebridge UI by searching for Wireless Sensor Tag, or:

npm install -g homebridge-wireless-sensor-tags

For local development:

npm install
npm run build
npm link

Then restart Homebridge.

Configuration

Add the platform in the Homebridge UI, or to config.json:

{
  "platforms": [
    {
      "platform": "wireless-sensor-tag",
      "name": "Wireless Sensor Tag",
      "token": "your-oauth2-access-token",
      "queryFrequency": 20000,
      "ignoreList": ["Honda"]
    }
  ]
}

Email/password login from the original plugin still works if you do not have a token:

{
  "platforms": [
    {
      "platform": "wireless-sensor-tag",
      "name": "Wireless Sensor Tag",
      "username": "[email protected]",
      "password": "password",
      "queryFrequency": 20000,
      "ignoreList": ["Honda"]
    }
  ]
}

| Field | Required | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | platform | yes | Must be wireless-sensor-tag | | name | yes | Display name for this platform instance | | token | recommended | OAuth2 access token from My OAuth2 Apps | | username | if no token | Your mytaglist.com / wirelesstag.net email | | password | if no token | Your mytaglist.com / wirelesstag.net password | | queryFrequency | no | Poll interval in milliseconds. Minimum 5000, default 20000 | | ignoreList | no | Exact tag names to skip. Matching is case-sensitive |

If both a token and username/password are set, the token is used.

Creating an OAuth2 token

  1. Open https://www.mytaglist.com/eth/oauth2_apps.html
  2. Register an app and authorize it against your account
  3. Exchange the returned code for an access token
  4. Paste that token into the plugin config

Upgrading from 0.0.x

This rewrite uses the Homebridge dynamic platform API, TypeScript, native fetch, and HTTPS. Cached accessories from the old static platform may not map 1:1. After upgrading, if Home shows duplicate or stale tags, remove the old accessories (or reset this plugin's cached accessories) and restart Homebridge.

Development

npm install
npm run lint
npm run build

npm run watch compiles on change and launches Homebridge with ./test/hbConfig.
