Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MCP server for InfraSketch — generate IaC architecture diagram URLs from Claude Code, Cursor, and any MCP client

Readme

infrasketch-mcp

MCP server for InfraSketch — generate IaC architecture diagram URLs directly from Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or any MCP-compatible AI editor.

What it does

Exposes two MCP tools:

| Tool | Description | |------|-------------| | generate_diagram | Takes IaC code → returns a shareable diagram URL + embed snippets | | detect_iac_format | Detects the format of an IaC code snippet |

Supports: Terraform · OpenTofu · Kubernetes · Pulumi · CloudFormation · CDK · Bicep/ARM · Terragrunt · Docker Compose

Nothing is uploaded. The diagram URL encodes your code in the URL fragment — fully client-side.

Setup

Claude Code

Add to .claude/settings.json in your project (or ~/.claude/settings.json globally):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "infrasketch": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["infrasketch-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Or run once:

claude mcp add infrasketch -- npx infrasketch-mcp

Cursor

Add to .cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "infrasketch": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["infrasketch-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Windsurf / other MCP clients

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "infrasketch": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["infrasketch-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Usage

Once configured, ask your AI assistant:

Generate a diagram for my Terraform code
Visualize this Kubernetes manifest
What format is this IaC file?
Create an architecture diagram and give me the embed code

The generate_diagram tool returns:

  • Interactive diagram URL — open in browser for drag-drop editing, export
  • iframe embed snippet — paste into any webpage
  • Web component snippet<infra-sketch> for docs/blogs

Example output

## InfraSketch Diagram

**Format:** Terraform / OpenTofu
**Size:** 42 lines · 1.2 KB

### Interactive diagram
https://infrasketch.cloud/#eyJ0eXBlIjoidGVycmFmb3JtIiwiY29kZSI6...

### Embed (iframe)
<iframe src="https://infrasketch.cloud/embed.html#..." ...></iframe>

### Embed (web component)
<script src="https://infrasketch.cloud/embed.js"></script>
<infra-sketch type="terraform" height="520">...</infra-sketch>

Install options

# Use without installing (recommended)
npx infrasketch-mcp

# Install globally
npm install -g infrasketch-mcp

Requires Node.js 18+.

Privacy

  • Your IaC code is never uploaded to any server
  • The diagram URL encodes code in the URL fragment (client-side only)
  • InfraSketch has no backend — everything renders in the browser
