What it calculates
UK statutory notice and contractual notice in 2026:
- Statutory minimum from employer under s.86 Employment Rights Act 1996:
- 1 week if 1 month – 2 years' service
- 1 week per year for 2-12 years (max 12)
- Statutory minimum from employee: 1 week (after 1 month's service)
- Contractual notice: typically 1-3 months at mid/senior level, 6-12 months at C-suite
- Last working day: factoring weekends, holiday accrual, payment-in-lieu
- Garden leave vs PILON vs work-out options
All calculations follow s.86 ERA 1996 and standard UK contract conventions.
