Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

jsonbank

v1.6.2

Published

Official Jsonbank Node Package.

Readme

JsonBank NodeJs SDK

The official repository for jsonbank.io Javascript SDK.

STAGE: (RFC)

Installation

npm i jsonbank
# OR YARN
yarn add jsonbank

Usage

const {JsonBank} = require("jsonbank")

// Initialize with Api keys.
const jsb = new JsonBank({
  keys: {
    pub: 'JSB_PUBLIC_KEY',
    prv: 'JSB_PRIVATE_KEY',
  }
});

// Get json content of a public file.
await jsb.getContent("public/my.json");

// Get json content of a private file
await jsb.getOwnContent("private/my.json");

// Get a json file from github.
await jsb.getGithubContent("github_username/repo/path/to/my.json");

// Update content of a json file.
await jsb.updateContent('private/numbers.json', {
  // new data...
})

Listing

List what's inside a project, one level deep. All three take a project slug and an optional params object. Pass folder (a folder id or its path) to list inside a folder instead of the project root.

// Documents and folders together. The two lists paginate independently.
const {project, documents, folders} = await jsb.scanProject("my-project");

// Scoped to a folder, by path or by id.
await jsb.scanProject("my-project", {folder: "locales"});

// Only one of the lists, so nothing you don't need is queried or paged.
await jsb.listDocuments("my-project", {page: 2, perPage: 50});
await jsb.listFolders("my-project", {sort: "createdAt", order: "desc"});

sort is one of name (default), createdAt or updatedAt, and order is asc (default) or desc. perPage defaults to 100 and goes up to 1000.

Each list is a page of results, so walk meta.lastPage to get everything:

let page = 1, lastPage = 1;

do {
  const {documents} = await jsb.listDocuments("my-project", {page, perPage: 1000});
  lastPage = documents.meta.lastPage;

  for (const doc of documents.data) {
    // documents are metadata only, fetch content separately
    console.log(doc.path, doc.contentSize.string);
  }
} while (page++ < lastPage);

Testing

Create an .env file in the root of the project and add the following variables

JSB_HOST="https://api.jsonbank.io"
JSB_TIMEOUT=30000
JSB_PUBLIC_KEY="your public key"
JSB_PRIVATE_KEY="your private key"

Then run the test command below.

npm run test
