Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

jsonresume-theme-folio

A compact, print-optimized JSON Resume theme for professionals. Clean inline header, unified contact bar, custom network highlights, and PDF-first layout.

npm version license

✨ Features

  • Compact header — Name and job title inline on one line, contact details and social profiles in a unified flex row
  • Custom network highlights — Supports non-brand networks like interactive-resume with accent-color pill highlighting
  • PDF-first — Tight print margins and print-color-adjust rules for crisp Puppeteer/PDF exports
  • Svelte SSR — Server-side rendered with Svelte 5 for clean, zero-JS HTML output
  • Dark mode — Automatic light/dark theme via prefers-color-scheme
  • Internationalization — 12 languages supported out of the box
  • Customizable themes — Override colors and fonts via resume.json meta field
  • Section ordering — Reorder resume sections via meta.theme.sectionOrder
  • Override CSS — Drop in an override.css for full control

📦 Installation

npm install jsonresume-theme-folio

Point your resume.json at the theme:

{
  "meta": {
    "theme": "jsonresume-theme-folio"
  }
}

📄 Single-Page & Multi-Page PDF Export (folio-export)

This theme bundles a dedicated PDF export CLI (folio-export) that dynamically measures the DOM height to produce a continuous single-page PDF with zero trailing whitespace by default (default width 242mm):

Note: folio-export requires Puppeteer to render PDFs via headless Chromium. Ensure Puppeteer is installed in your project (npm install -D puppeteer) or globally (npm install -g puppeteer).

# 1. Export exact single page (default, 242mm width, zero empty whitespace):
npx folio-export resume.json -o resume.pdf

# 2. Custom width single page:
npx folio-export resume.json -w 260mm

# 3. Export standard multi-page (A4 / Letter):
npx folio-export resume.json --multi-page --format A4

You can also customize width or options directly in your resume.json:

{
  "meta": {
    "theme": "jsonresume-theme-folio",
    "pdfRenderOptions": {
      "width": "242mm"
    }
  }
}

With resumed

# Render HTML
npx resumed render resume.json --theme jsonresume-theme-folio -o resume.html

# Export standard multi-page PDF
npx resumed export resume.json --theme jsonresume-theme-folio -o resume.pdf --puppeteer-arg=--no-sandbox

Programmatic Usage

const theme = require("jsonresume-theme-folio");
const resume = require("./resume.json");

// Optional: set language (default: "en-gb")
theme.changeLanguage("de");

const html = theme.render(resume);

🎨 Custom Network Highlights

In addition to standard brand icons (LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, etc.), this theme supports custom non-brand networks with solid icons:

| Network value | Icon | Style | | -------------------- | ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------- | | interactive-resume | fa-solid fa-laptop-code | ✨ Highlighted (accent border + background) | | portfolio | fa-solid fa-globe | Accent color | | globe | fa-solid fa-globe | Accent color | | website | fa-solid fa-globe | Accent color |

Example in resume.json:

{
  "basics": {
    "profiles": [
      {
        "network": "interactive-resume",
        "username": "My Interactive Resume",
        "url": "https://yoursite.com/"
      }
    ]
  }
}

🎨 Theme Customization

Customize colors and fonts by adding a theme object inside meta in your resume.json:

{
  "meta": {
    "theme": {
      "primaryColor": "#2563eb",
      "textColor": "#1e293b",
      "backgroundColor": "#ffffff",
      "fontFamily": "\"Inter\", sans-serif",
      "linkColor": "#2563eb",
      "headingColor": "#0f172a"
    }
  }
}

Available theme properties

| Property | CSS Variable | Description | | -------------------- | ------------------------ | --------------------------------- | | primaryColor | --color-accent | Section titles, accents | | textColor | --color-text | Main body text | | textSecondaryColor | --color-text-secondary | Secondary text (companies, dates) | | headingColor | --color-heading | Heading color | | linkColor | --color-link | Link color | | backgroundColor | --color-background | Page background | | backgroundAltColor | --color-background-alt | Summary section background | | borderColor | --color-border | Border colors | | keywordTextColor | --color-keyword-text | Skill/keyword tag text | | keywordBgColor | --color-keyword-bg | Skill/keyword tag background | | fontFamily | --font-family | Base font family |

Override CSS

For full CSS control, create an override.css file alongside your resume. The theme automatically loads it via <link rel="stylesheet" href="./override.css">.

📑 Section Ordering

Control the order of resume sections by adding a sectionOrder array to meta.theme:

{
  "meta": {
    "theme": {
      "sectionOrder": ["basics", "work", "skills", "education", "projects"]
    }
  }
}

Available sections

basics, skills, work, projects, volunteer, education, awards, certificates, publications, languages, interests, references

Default order: basics → work → education → projects → volunteer → awards → certificates → publications → skills → languages → interests → references

Only sections listed in sectionOrder will be rendered. Omit sections to hide them, or include all for full control over ordering.
