Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Kap plugin - Show a camera overlay while recording

A fork of kap-camera with fixes for modern macOS and Apple Silicon.

Changes from kap-camera

  • Replaced deprecated AVCaptureDevice.devices(for:) with AVCaptureDevice.DiscoverySession
  • Universal binary (arm64 + x86_64) targeting macOS 14.0+
  • Fixed Electron 13+ compatibility (contextIsolation, enableRemoteModule)

Install

In the Kap menu, go to Preferences…, select the Plugins pane, find this plugin, and toggle it.

Usage

In the cropper or by right-clicking the tray icon, click the … icon, then Plugins and make sure Show Camera is enabled.

The plugin creates a window showing the selected camera on the bottom-right corner of the recording. The window is click-through and its hover opacity and size can be adjusted.

To move the window, hold Command before you hover over it, then click and drag it anywhere on the screen.
