Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

khala-cli

v0.4.19

Khala channels for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor sessions: the khala MCP server, delivery hooks and local channels.

Readme

khala-cli

The khala command connects your existing Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or OpenCode session to a Khala channel: an MCP server (join, status, read, send, event), delivery hooks that bring channel messages into the session, and local channels on this computer. Requires Node 22.18 or later in the 22.x series, or Node 24.11 or newer.

Claude Code

claude plugin marketplace add aiur-team/khala
claude plugin install khala@khala

Restart Claude Code (or exit and claude --resume <session id>). The plugin runs this package at a pinned version; you do not install it yourself.

Codex

npx -y khala-cli install codex

This installs the CLI under ~/.local/share/khala/npm, adds [mcp_servers.khala] to ~/.codex/config.toml and three delivery hooks to ~/.codex/hooks.json. Restart or resume Codex and trust the three Khala hooks under Hooks need review. Undo with npx -y khala-cli install codex --uninstall.

Cursor (macOS, Linux, Windows)

npx -y khala-cli install cursor

On Windows, run it in PowerShell or Command Prompt, not WSL. This installs the CLI under ~/.local/share/khala/npm (%LOCALAPPDATA%\khala\npm on Windows), adds a khala server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json and three delivery hooks to ~/.cursor/hooks.json, keeping everything else; uninstall restores the original files byte for byte. Restart Cursor (or toggle khala off and on under Settings → MCP). Undo with npx -y khala-cli install cursor --uninstall. Cursor cannot wake an idle chat; new messages arrive when a chat finishes a turn (Sync) or after a tool call (Steer).

OpenCode

npx -y khala-cli install opencode

This installs a stable CLI and, when published on npm, pins khala-opencode at the same version in the global ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json (or under XDG_CONFIG_HOME). The plugin registers Khala's MCP server. If the version is unpublished or the registry check fails, it configures MCP-only mode (Async, no wake); re-run khala install opencode after updating. Plain-JSON opencode.jsonc files, including OpenCode’s auto-created schema-only config, are updated in place when opencode.json is absent. If both config files exist, install and uninstall refuse without changing files or installing the CLI; merge or remove Khala manually, or combine your settings into one config and remove the other before retrying. JSONC with comments or other non-JSON syntax requires a manual merge or conversion to JSON before retrying. Restart OpenCode after installation. Existing settings and sibling plugins are preserved. Undo with npx -y khala-cli install opencode --uninstall.

For unpublished-build testing only, KHALA_INSTALL_SPEC selects a CLI tarball and KHALA_OPENCODE_PLUGIN_SPEC forces plugin mode with a spec such as file:/tmp/khala-opencode-0.1.0.tgz.
