Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A Zed ACP adapter for Kiro CLI with model/agent/thinking selection

Readme

kiro-agent-acp

ACP Registry entry point for Kiro CLI.

This is a transparent wrapper around kiro-cli acp — it exists purely to provide a convenient npx-installable package for the ACP Registry, so editors like Zed and JetBrains can install Kiro with one click.

What it does

kiro-cli acp already implements the full ACP protocol natively, including:

  • Model selection — configOptions with real model list from your Kiro account
  • Agent switching — switch between your configured agents
  • Thinking/effort level — control reasoning depth
  • Session management — load, resume, list, close sessions
  • Tool calls — file edits, terminal, search, etc.
  • Slash commands — /help, /compact, /model, /effort, etc.
  • MCP servers — forwarded from the editor

This package simply spawns kiro-cli acp and pipes all JSON-RPC messages through transparently. No hardcoded models or agents — everything comes directly from kiro-cli.

Prerequisites

  1. Kiro CLI installed and authenticated:

    curl -fsSL https://kiro.dev/install.sh | bash
    kiro-cli auth login
  2. Node.js >= 20

Installation

npm install -g kiro-agent-acp

Or use directly with npx:

npx kiro-agent-acp

Zed Editor Setup

{
  "agent_servers": {
    "Kiro": {
      "type": "custom",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["kiro-agent-acp"],
      "env": {}
    }
  }
}

With a specific agent:

{
  "agent_servers": {
    "Kiro Architect": {
      "type": "custom",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["kiro-agent-acp", "--agent", "architect"],
      "env": {}
    }
  }
}

JetBrains IDEs

~/.jetbrains/acp.json:

{
  "agents": [
    { "name": "Kiro", "command": ["npx", "kiro-agent-acp"] }
  ]
}

CLI Options

kiro-agent-acp [--agent <name>] [-- <extra-kiro-args>]

| Flag | Description | |------|-------------| | --agent <name> | Use a specific Kiro agent | | -- <args> | Extra arguments passed to kiro-cli acp |

Environment Variables

| Variable | Description | |----------|-------------| | KIRO_CLI_PATH | Override the path to kiro-cli |

Architecture

Editor (Zed/JetBrains)  ←→  kiro-agent-acp (pipe)  ←→  kiro-cli acp
       stdin/stdout              transparent              stdin/stdout

All ACP protocol messages — initialize, session/new, session/prompt, session/set_config_option, etc. — pass through unchanged. The model/agent/thinking selectors you see in the editor come directly from kiro-cli acp.

Why not use kiro-cli acp directly?

You can! If kiro-cli is in your PATH, just configure your editor to run kiro-cli acp directly. This package exists for:

  1. ACP Registry distribution — one-click install in Zed/JetBrains
  2. npx convenience — no global install needed
  3. Future enhancements — a place to add editor-specific features on top

Development

npm install
npm run build
npm start
