kitbase
Your team's AI toolkit, in one command.
Manage, version, and distribute MCPs, skills, and agents across projects, repos, machines, and members — without a secret ever touching kitbase's servers.
Install
npx kitbase <command>or install globally:
npm install -g kitbaseThis package is a thin wrapper: it resolves your OS/architecture and runs the matching native kitbase binary from @kitbasehq/cli-* — no separate download step needed.
Commands
scan Detect clients, existing configs and repos; offer to import as a profile
init Create a profile from scratch (or from scan)
login Auth; downloads and caches manifests + repo map
join Join a team and get profiles assigned by role
apply Resolve and install (machine scope + current repo); auto-verifies tasks
status Desired vs. real, per detected client
diff Same as `status`, with the actual entry names behind each difference
tasks List pending tasks; marking one triggers verification
link Manually link the current repo to a profile
vault Connect a secrets resolver
publish Publish a new profile version
rollback Point a profile at a previous version
list Available / assigned profiles
report Upload a full machine snapshot
schedule Install the opt-in daily background `kitbase report`Run kitbase help <command> for details on any of them.
How it works
- Secrets are never sent to kitbase's backend — configs reference them as
{{vault://provider/path/field}}and get resolved locally against your own vault. - The CLI writes native config for each detected client (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) and marks its own entries so it never overwrites what it doesn't manage.
- Profile versions are immutable;
kitbase rollbackjust points at a previous one. - Works offline against the last synced state in
~/.kitbase/.
