Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

LDAP client and server APIs

ldapjs-community

CI

ldapjs-community is a community-maintained, drop-in fork of ldapjs v2. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original ldapjs maintainers.

[!IMPORTANT] v2 API only. If your application uses ldapjs v3, do not switch yet.

Replace ldapjs v2

Your existing require('ldapjs') and import ... from 'ldapjs' calls can stay unchanged.

If ldapjs is a direct dependency, install the fork under the original name:

npm install ldapjs@npm:ldapjs-community@^2.3.4

If ldapjs comes through another package such as passport-ldapauth, add the matching top-level field to your project's root configuration, then reinstall.

npm

Add this field to package.json:

"overrides": { "ldapjs": "npm:ldapjs-community@^2.3.4" }

Yarn

Add this field to package.json:

"resolutions": { "ldapjs": "npm:ldapjs-community@^2.3.4" }

pnpm

pnpm 11 and newer read overrides from pnpm-workspace.yaml:

overrides:
  ldapjs: npm:ldapjs-community@^2.3.4

For pnpm 10 and earlier, add this field to package.json:

"pnpm": { "overrides": { "ldapjs": "npm:ldapjs-community@^2.3.4" } }

Verify the replacement after installing:

npm ls ldapjs

The resolved entry should point to [email protected] or newer.

Usage

const ldap = require('ldapjs')

const server = ldap.createServer()

server.search('dc=example', function (req, res, next) {
  const obj = {
    dn: req.dn.toString(),
    attributes: {
      objectclass: ['organization', 'top'],
      o: 'example'
    }
  }

  if (req.filter.matches(obj.attributes)) {
    res.send(obj)
  }

  res.end()
})

server.listen(1389, function () {
  console.log('ldapjs listening at ' + server.url)
})

To run that, assuming you have the OpenLDAP client on your system:

ldapsearch -H ldap://localhost:1389 -x -b dc=example objectclass=*
