Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

libraries-dev

Installs the Libraries.dev agent skill. The skill teaches your coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and others that read skills) to use the seven Libraries.dev libraries correctly and to suggest where each one fits in your project:

Border beam, Thinking orbs, Gooey, Voice, Bot avatars, Liquid metal, Image.

Free skill

npx libraries-dev skill

Covers each library's install, usage and the options its detail page on libraries.dev offers. No account needed. Installs to ~/.claude/skills/libraries-dev (--project for ./.claude/skills, --dir <path> for anywhere).

The same skill installs into other agents with the skills CLI:

npx skills add Jakubantalik/Libraries.dev

Pro skill

npx libraries-dev skill --pro

For Libraries Pro members. Signs you in through the browser the first time, then installs libraries-pro: every option the Studio exposes, palettes, cursor gravity, and the core customization contracts for rebuilding an effect's geometry or shader.

It goes wherever the free skill is installed, in this project and in your home folder, whichever agents npx skills add set it up for (.agents/skills for Cursor and Codex, .claude/skills, and so on, including symlinked copies), and removes the free copies it replaces (--keep-free to keep both). With no free copy it installs to ~/.claude/skills; --project or --dir choose the folder yourself. Run it again to update.

Team MCP server (Business)

npx libraries-dev mcp --claude # or --cursor; without either it prints the config

Connects your coding agent to your team's Libraries.dev data: the brand kit, every preset your team saved in the Studio, each library's full option list and Pro reference, and a validator that checks values the way the Studio does. A preset saved from code comes with a Studio link. Your agent does the work with its own model. Needs a Business seat; the token is personal to it.

Using it

Ask your agent:

  • "Review my project for libraries.dev effects" (libraries review)
  • "Add a thinking orb to the chat reply" (libraries apply)
  • Pro: "Make the beam match our brand colours" (libraries match), "calmer, slower orb" (libraries tune), "make the orb a cube" (libraries core)

Commands

| Command | What it does | | --- | --- | | skill | Install the free skill | | skill --pro | Install the Pro skill (signs in if needed) | | mcp | Business: connect your agent to the team MCP server (--claude, --cursor) | | login / logout / whoami | Manage the Pro sign-in |
