life-clock is a simple CLI tool that visualizes the progress of your life based on your birthdate — with a clean progress bar and motivational insights. It's a fun and reflective way to stay mindful of time.

Time is our most valuable asset — and most of us forget how little we have. life-clock is a gentle, visual nudge to make every day matter. Inspired by Tim Urban's "Life in Weeks" and the Stoic idea of memento mori.

📦 Installation

-e, --expectancy <years> Life expectancy in years (default: 79)
-w, --width <characters> Width of the progress bar (default: 30)
--daily Show only once per day (great for .bashrc or .zshrc)
--add-quote <quote> Add a custom motivational quote to your collection
--list-quotes List all quotes in your collection
--reset-quotes Reset quotes collection to default quotes
--bar-position <position> Position of the progress bar (top or default; default: default)
-V, --version Output the version number

You can add your own motivational quotes to personalize your experience:

# Reset to default quotes
life-clock --reset-quotesYour quotes are stored in ~/.life-clock/quotes.json and will be randomly displayed each time you run the tool. If you don't add any custom quotes, the tool will use its built-in collection of motivational quotes.
