Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Luscious SASS

A Library of SASS functions/mixin/variables/stuff

Current Version: v0.9.2: Unstable Don't use this package until v1.0.0

Installation

npm install luscious

or

yarn add -D luscious

Setup

Import

In your main SASS file, import Luscious

// main.scss
@import 'node_modules/luscious/core/luscious';

or, using Gulp:

// gulpfile.js
gulp.task('sass', function() {
	return gulp
		.src('sass/*.scss')
		.pipe(
			sass({
				outputStyle: 'compressed',
				includePaths: ['node_modules/luscious/core'],
			}).on('error', sass.logError)
		)
		.pipe(gulp.dest('dist/css'));
});
// main.scss
@import 'luscious';

or, using Node-sass from the command-line

node-sass --include-path 'node_modules/luscious/core'
// main.scss
@import 'luscious';

Override Luscious Settings

If you want to override default settings in Luscious, copy the settings file to your styles directory and import it before Luscious in your main.scss file.

cp node_modules/luscious/scaffold/_settings.scss path/to/styles

Starting With the Boilerplate

Luscious also has a set of boilerplate files (Called 'scaffold'). They have basic styles already set for default html tags based on normalize.css. Using the scaffold is completely optional. If you decide to use it, then you'll want to copy those files directly into your project and track them in git. Tip: if you see @nrml tag in the scaffold, that is the related note about that style-rule from the normalize.css docs.

To copy the scaffold into your project replacing your current ./styles directory:

cp -r ./node_modules/luscious/scaffold/ ./styles

To add the scaffold folder to your current ./styles directory:

cp -r ./node_modules/luscious/scaffold ./styles

Linting Your SASS

If you want to use the same linting setup that was used in the core project, copy the lint-config files to your root directory.

cp -r ./node_modules/luscious/.sasslint.yml ./.sasslint.yml
cp -r ./node_modules/luscious/.sasslint-fix.yml ./.sasslint-fix.yml

You can also add these scripts to your package.json to make life easier:

"scripts": {
	"lint": "sass-lint -c .sasslint.yml '**/*.s+(a|c)ss' -v -q",
	"fix": "sass-lint-auto-fix -c .sasslint-fix.yml '**/*.s+(a|c)ss' -v -q"
}
