Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MCP server for saving, reading, listing and speaking poems

Readme

This is what you need to insert in mcp.json:

MCP Poems Server (Test)

⚠️ Warning

This is a simple MCP server test.
Download and usage are entirely at your own risk.

What this MCP does

This connector creates a folder in your filesystem and provides the following tools:

  • save_poem
    Use this if you want your model to generate a poem (or any text). The result will be saved in the default folder.

  • list_poems
    Lets your model output a list of all poems in the poems folder.

  • read_poem
    Allows your model to display a specific poem from the list.

  • read_last_poem_aloud
    Reads the most recent poem from the list out loud.

  • delete_poem
    Deletes a single poem. You can specify it by number or name.

  • delete_all_poems
    Deletes all poems from the default folder.

  • copy_poem
    Use this tool to rename (copy) an existing poem.

Installation

In VS Code or Claude Desktop

Add the following JSON to:

  • mcp.json (VS Code), or
  • claude_desktop_config.json (Claude Desktop)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "mcp-poems": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-poems"]
    }
  }
}

## Important Notes

- A default folder named `poems` will be created in your home directory.
- The outer `{}` brackets are maybe already present in the respective JSON files.
  In this case **Do not copy them**, or you will get an error.
- You need to have node running otherwise the mcp server will not be installed. Try "node -v" or run npx -y mcp-poems.

---

## Final Step

To load the MCP connector:

1. Close your host application (VS Code or Claude Desktop)
2. Restart it

### Claude Desktop Users

Make sure to **fully quit the app**, including closing it via the system tray (trash icon).
Otherwise, the MCP server will **not** be loaded properly.
