Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

I had to think for a while when I saw the word bobaaw. It does seem to be an affectionate term. But what surprises me more is that I am talking about Amhara people. For me as a Sudanese Amhara, its hard to resist using it when we are talking to each other in Amharic. Bodaaw as a word used in Amharic is actually old and taken from Ge'ez Greek. It means to speak or talk about someone that we are interested in, I really dont think that many Amhara people use it

Injah is used in Amharic, sometimes literally translated to very happy, but I think that its more significant. It can be used instead of Amen or Aleha depending on the situation. As an example, for a woman to say amen when a man is talking to her and she wants to say she likes it, she can say Injah to collect her thoughts and make sure she isnt missing out on anything

The word mezmure wadit means surprise! It is a regular Amharic phrase, the suffix of mezmar means mind, and wadit is surprise. Eg You say waeïmmezmurewo fadhil or mezmar mitfu wadit, that is mezmure wadit. (Meaning, for any reason, you are shocked.)

The Amharic words for over eating are en kurunka woantu and benewoantu. Both simply mean "to eat too much". Kurunka literally means"to eat up" or edem (a verb meaning "eat up"), "eat" or geenab (a verb meaning "to eat").

26th.The Pronouns change from being third person to first person and vice versa in Amharic depending on what’s being discussed. For example, if someone is talking about themselves, Amharic uses 2nd or 3rd person pronoun. 84d34552a1
