Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

mmgr

mmgr is a media manager. It stores the media and relevant metadata. It's modular, so you can embed it with your app or use http://mmgr.us's API directly.

Features:

  • Images

    • Different sized variants via slug, i.e. <id>.<slug>.<format>, including color correction.
    • Reduced redundancy storage and optional TTL for variants (via S3 rules), allowing progressive updates and lower costs.
    • Resize only on demand.
    • Filesize optimization for all images.
    • WebP support (disabled on http://mmgr.us until it's moved off Heroku or uses a better buildpack).
    • Converts GIFs to WebM or MP4 (simply change the extension).
    • Sideload images via /image/:url* i.e. GET http://mmgr.us/image/http://i.imgur.com/RVKTuK7.jpg. This is especially useful for proxying your images to ensure SSL.
    • Checks ImageMagick's identify signatures as well as sha256-sum of files to avoid duplicate images, making secondary uploads very fast.
    • Automatically orients images.

    • Scrapes the <head> of links for relevant metadata using head-scraper.
    • Grabs oembed data using noembed
    • Grabs unique IDs for YouTube and Vimeo videos.

MMGR is very modular. It uses most of the repositories in the mmgr organization. If you want to embed MMGR into your app, you can use a subset of these modules. If you want to use the public site, you may simply use images-client and links-client.
