Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Mongodb-handler

This module handles all mongodb-transactions over a global calling.

Installation

npm install mongodb-handler

What's new in v2

  • The module provides promises, now
  • Submit a userId to the modules eventlistener feature.

Implementate in your project:

The module have an integrated Eventlistener to fetch all events through this module.

To Startup in your Project you must start the Eventlistener in your project.

"use strict";

const mdbhandler = require("mongodb-handler");

const connection = mdbhandler.start();

connection.on("ready", (message) => {
  console.log(message); // Notification when system is ready
});

connection.on("insert", (message) => {
  console.log(message); // Notification when a document is insert
});

connection.on("bulkinsert", (message) => {
  console.log(message); // Notification when documents are insert with bulk
});

connection.on("delete", (message) => {
  console.log(message); // Notification when documents are deleted
});

connection.on("update", (message) => {
  console.log(message); // Notification when documents are updated
});

Config ENV Variable

  • MDBHANDLER_CONSTRING: Defines the connectionstring to the database. Default is: 'mongodb://localhost:27017/mdbtest';

Options (object)

  • collection: Defines the collection
  • update: Defines the document on update
  • doc: Defines the document
  • userId: On this property it's possible to set the unique identifier of an user where changed a document. This module will submit this property to the modules eventlistener.
  • querys: Defines the querys (See (here)[https://mongodb.github.io/node-mongodb-native/markdown-docs/queries.html#query-options])

Additional query Parameters

  • querys.getTotal: When this property is true, the fetch will response follow structure:
{
  total: 400, // The totalamount of the query
  data: [
    .
    .
    .
  ]
}

This is necessary for the paging to transmit the complete content lenght.

Usage

Insert a document

When you want to work with callbacks:
mdbhandler.insert(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.insert(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Update a single document:

mdbhandler.update(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.update(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Run a aggregation query

Attention: In this method the options property are differen to the other.

const options = {
  collection: 'collectionName',
  doc: [
    // Include your stages
  ],
  options: {
    // Your Options for the query
  }
}

mdbhandler.aggregate(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.aggregate(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Multiupdate document:

mdbhandler.findandupdate(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.findandupdate(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Delete a document:

mdbhandler.delete(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.delete(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Fetch documents:

mdbhandler.fetch(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.fetch(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Fetch last n documents:

let options = { doc: { id = 'xyz' }, last: 10 };

mdbhandler.fetchlastNdocuments(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }

    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.fetchlastNdocuments(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();

Bulk insert documents:

let options = { doc: [{obj1}, {obj2} ... ]};

mdbhandler.bulk(options, (err, result) => {
    if (err) {
        throw err;
    }
    // Implementate your code here
    console.log(result);
});
Promise / Async await

(async () => {
  try {
    const result = await mdbhandler.bulk(options);
  } catch (err) {
    throw err;
  }
})();
