Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

mongoose-memcached

v0.1.4

Published

Cache mongoose queries in memcached.

Readme

mongoose memcached

Use memcached as the query cacher for mongoose. Inspired by Jonathan Brumley's mongoose-cachebox, but compatible with mongoose 3.8 and uses memcached instead of redis. The API is very similar. Credits to https://github.com/Faleij for all the features related to stream query.

Instalation

$ npm install mongoose-memcached

Usage

var mongoose = require('mongoose');

var options = {
  cache: true, // disable caching for all modules by default
  ttl: 30 // set default time to live to be 30 seconds
  memServers: 'localhost:11211', // memcached server
  memOptions: null
};

mongooseMemcached(mongoose, options);

Then later any find or findOne query will be cached for 60 seconds.

You can also enable caching programatically by using the cache method directly from the query instance:

var Person = mongoose.model('Person');

Person.find({ active: true })
.cache(true, 50)  // enable cache, for 50 seconds
.exec(function (err, docs) { /* ... */
  if (err) throw error;
  console.log(docs);
});

#API

public methods

Query.prototype.cache(cache, ttl, key)
  • cache: String whether to enable or disable the cache
  • ttl: Number After how long should the key expire measured in seconds
  • key: Function the identifier associated with the cache
  • return:Query the Query object itself, which means you can chain the calls

all parameters are optional. If cache is undefined, it is defaulted to true. If ttl is undefined, the time to live is set to ttl defined when the library is initialized. When the key is not defined, it will be generated based on an internal key generating function, genKeyFromQuery. Check the documentation if you want to see exactly how the key is generated

Query.prototype.isFromCache()
  • return : Boolean whether the current queried data is from cache
Query.prototype.isCacheEnabled()
  • return : Boolean whether the current queried will use cache
mongooseMemcached(mongoose, options);

Initialize the plugin on mongoose. The field you can set in options are

  • ttl: Number After how long should the key expire measured in seconds. Default: 60 seconds
  • cache: Boolean enable cache globally by default. Default: false
  • memServer: String the memcached server address. Default: 'localhost:11211'
  • memOptions: Object options to use for memcached server. The library relies on node-memcached, and will pass the option to the library directly. Default: null
  • genKey: Function function for key genration. Default: genKeyFromQuery
