Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MOON // Founder Edition — Beta Tester Guide

Welcome to the private beta for Moon. You are one of the founding members with early access to the desktop companion engine. Please read this quick guide to configure your API keys, master the hotkeys, and resolve common audio settings on your first run.

  1. Essential Hotkeys Hotkey Ctrl + S F9 Action Settings Overlay Global Interrupt Description Opens the in-app settings menu to select your microphone, speakers, and enter your API keys. Instant Mute / Stop. Immediately stops Moon from speaking mid sentence. Works globally across Windows even if Moon is minimized behind other apps.
  2. Setting Up Your API Keys Moon relies on fast cloud inference for her intelligence and local synthesis for her voice. To run Moon, you will need a free Groq API Key. Step 1: Get a Free Groq API Key
  3. Go to console.groq.com and sign in or create an account.
  4. Click on API Keys in the left sidebar → Create API Key.
  5. Copy the key (it starts with gsk_...). Step 2: Input Key in Moon
  6. Launch Moon.exe.
  7. Press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to open the Settings Overlay.
  8. Paste your key into the GROQ API Key field.
  9. Click Save (or press Enter).
  10. Close the window and launch Moon.exe again.
  11. Audio & Microphone Setup Moon automatically detects your system default audio devices, but if you use specialized headphones, DACs, or USB microphones, configure them directly:
  12. Press Ctrl + S to open Settings.
  13. Output Device (Speakers/Headphones): Select your primary listening device from the dropdown menu.
  14. Input Device (Microphone): Select your active microphone. If you ever unplug a headset while Moon is running and audio cuts out, hit Ctrl + S and re-select your active device.
  15. What to Expect on Startup First Launch Download: On your very first run, Moon automatically downloads her local high-fidelity voice model (Kokoro-82M). This may take 15–30 seconds depending on your internet connection. Subsequent launches will be near-instant. Intro Formation: Upon launching, the visualizer will initialize the particle matrix and boot up background voice listener threads. Background Operation: Moon runs silently beside your active workspace. Speak to her or press F9 if you need to interrupt her response.
  16. Reporting Bugs & Crash Logs If Moon crashes or encounters an unexpected error:
  17. Check the project folder for a file named fate.log.
  18. Open fate.log, copy the last 20–30 lines containing the ERROR or Traceback text.
  19. Send the log clip directly to [email protected] along with a quick note on what you were doing when it occurred. Beta Disclaimer Moon is an early-stage desktop companion. Expect dry sarcasm, zero tolerance for procrastinating, and periodic background optimizations as updates roll out. MOON // PRY DIGITAL — BETA TERMS & PRIVACY NOTICE
