Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

mpk-versions

List widget names and versions from Mendix .mpk files without manually extracting archives.

Requirements

Node.js (already bundled with Mendix Studio Pro).

Usage

# Run directly with npx — no install needed
npx mpk-versions widgets/

widgets_dir defaults to ./widgets (relative to cwd) if omitted.

npx mpk-versions                              # ./widgets (relative to cwd)
npx mpk-versions widgets/                     # same as above, explicit
npx mpk-versions C:\MendixProjects\MyApp\widgets

Why

Mendix doesn't surface widget versions in Studio Pro. Checking for marketplace updates previously meant manually extracting each .mpk and reading package.xml. This tool automates that.

How it works

.mpk files are ZIP archives. The script reads package.xml inside each one and extracts the name and version attributes from the <clientModule> element.
