Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

murl-cli

Command-line client for murl, a self-hosted, lightweight URL shortening service.

Installation

npm install -g murl-cli

Requires Node.js 20 or newer.

Usage

# configure your API token (optional) and service base URL (first run prompts automatically)
murl config

# print the current configuration without editing it
murl config show

# shorten a URL — prints the short URL to stdout
murl "https://example.com/some/very/long/url"

The API token can be left blank if your murl instance runs with API_TOKEN_MIDDLEWARE_ENABLED=false (no auth required). Configuration is stored locally via conf; run murl config again at any time to update it.
