Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

This is an n8n community node that lets you use Google Gemini AI in your n8n workflows with support for grounding search.

Google Gemini is Google's most capable AI model with multimodal understanding across text, images, audio, video, and documents.

n8n is a fair-code licensed workflow automation platform.

Follow the installation guide in the n8n community nodes documentation.

Operations

This node supports the following resource types:

Text

  • Message: Send text prompts to Gemini with optional grounding search and tool support

Image

  • Analyze: Analyze images with Gemini's vision capabilities

Audio

  • Transcribe/Analyze: Process audio files with Gemini

Video

  • Analyze: Analyze video content with Gemini

Document

  • Analyze: Process and analyze documents

File

  • Upload: Upload files to Google AI File API for processing

Credentials

You need a Google API key to use this node:

  1. Go to Google AI Studio
  2. Sign in with your Google account
  3. Click "Get API key" to create a new API key
  4. Copy the API key
  5. In n8n, create new "Google PaLM API" credentials and paste your API key

Compatibility

This node requires:

  • n8n version 0.198.0 or higher
  • Google PaLM API credentials

Usage

Basic Text Chat

  1. Add the Google Gemini node to your workflow
  2. Select "Text" as the resource
  3. Choose "Message" as the operation
  4. Enter your prompt
  5. Configure model settings as needed

With Grounding Search

Enable grounding search to get Gemini responses based on real-time web search results, providing more accurate and up-to-date information.

As AI Tool

This node can be used as an AI tool in n8n's AI workflows, allowing it to be called by AI agents.
