Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

n8n-nodes-node-name

This is an n8n community node. It lets you use MeshCentral in your n8n workflows.

MeshCentral is a full computer management web site. With MeshCentral, you can run your own web server to remotely manage and control computers on a local network or anywhere on the internet. Once you get the server started, create device group and download and install an agent on each computer you want to manage. A minute later, the new computer will show up on the web site and you can take control of it. MeshCentral includes full web-based remote desktop, terminal and file management capability.

n8n is a fair-code licensed workflow automation platform.

Installation

Follow the installation guide in the n8n community nodes documentation. Remember to restart your n8n instance after updating community node(s).

Operations

At the moment it runs every meshctrl command except: showevents, upload, download, agentdownload. It always returns a JSON response. Responses that don't contain data appear in a {result} key.

Beware that this node accepts a single input, which may provide multiple items / variables. Further inputs are discarded (Execute Once by default). Expressions are supported in the command input.

Credentials

You can use your meshcentral account credentials or login token (don't confuse with server login key). 2FA is not supported, you need to add your n8n's server IP to meshcentral's skip2factor configuration.

You may also use a proxy.

Compatibility

Tested with n8n Version 0.222.0 and MeshCentral 1.1.4

How it works

Under the hood this package includes a copy of meshctrl.js and runs it on the n8n server. If you enable debug you can see the rendered commands and stderr in your n8n debug logs.
