Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

US Business Entity Search for n8n

Search Secretary of State business entity records from n8n workflows. This community node runs the Apify actor pink_comic/us-business-entity-search and returns company names, statuses, addresses, registered agents, officers, formation dates, and source URLs where available.

Install in n8n

In n8n, go to Settings → Community Nodes → Install and enter:

You need an Apify API token. Add it in the node credentials as an API key or OAuth2 credential.

Common workflows

  • KYB / vendor onboarding checks
  • Lead enrichment from a company name
  • Registered-agent and officer lookup
  • Monitoring entity status across supported state registries

Inputs

  • Business Name: company name to search, e.g. Tesla or Goldman Sachs
  • States to Search: optional state-code list; supported no-key states include NY, TX, CO, OR, IA, WI, NJ, CT, PA, MN, KY, SC, ND, AL, AR, RI; CA requires a free CALICO API key
  • Max Results Per State: default 25
  • Fetch Full Details: fetch officers, addresses, registered agent, and detail pages when available

Output

Each item contains normalized entity data plus source-specific fields. Typical fields include entity name, state, status, entity type, formation date, principal address, registered agent, officers, and source URL.
