namefinder-mcp
An MCP server that lets AI agents use NameFinder in-loop: generate available, brandable domain names and check availability, registrar pricing, and social handles. A thin client of the NameFinder HTTP API, over stdio.
MCP client configuration
Add to your Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or Cursor MCP config — no install step,
npx fetches it on demand:
{
"mcpServers": {
"namefinder": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "namefinder-mcp"]
}
}
}By default it talks to the hosted API at https://namefinder.dev. To point it at
a local dev server, add an env override:
"env": { "NAMEFINDER_API_URL": "http://localhost:4000" }The process starts even when the API is unavailable; individual tool calls then return an MCP tool error with a connection message.
Tools
generate_names— generate and verify ranked, available names (with grades + pricing).check_domain— check one complete domain's availability + price.check_all_tlds— check a label across supported TLDs.check_socials— check a handle across supported social platforms.
