Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

NEBULAE SDK

Ultra-light virtualization engine - 100x faster than Docker, 20MB footprint.

npm version License: PolyForm NonCommercial

What Is Nebulae?

Nebulae is the lightest virtualization engine ever built. It turns any Linux device into a powerful host in seconds.

  • 🔥 Create virtual environments in 10-50MB on any Linux device
  • 🚀 Run unlimited apps inside 1 master environment
  • 🪶 Replace Pterodactyl panels with a 20MB lightweight alternative
  • 💰 Host on any VPS, Render, Railway, Koyeb, or even your phone
  • ⚡ 100x faster than Docker or Pterodactyl

Run on any platform: DigitalOcean, AWS, Render, Railway, Koyeb, Oracle Free Tier, Termux, or any Linux device.

Quick Install

npm install -g nebulae-sdk

What Can You Build?

| Feature | Description | |---------|-------------| | Virtual Environments | Create isolated spaces for apps, websites, bots, game servers | | Nebulae Panel | Full Pterodactyl replacement - 20MB, 100x faster | | App Hosting | Deploy Node.js, Python, Minecraft servers instantly | | Web Hosting | Host static websites with custom domains | | Game Servers | Run Minecraft & other game servers in 10-20MB containers |

Quick Start: Virtual Environments

const { createEnv } = require('nebulae-sdk');

const env = createEnv({
    name: 'my-app',
    ram: 'unlimited',
    cpu: 'unlimited',
    storage: 'unlimited'
});

// Run anything inside it
env.run('npm install express');
env.run('node index.js');

Quick Start: Nebulae Panel (Pterodactyl Replacement)

# Install the SDK
npm install -g nebulae-sdk

# Install the panel
nebulae panel install

# Follow the prompts:
# - Domain (e.g., panel.yourdomain.com)
# - Admin email & password
# - Panel type (Root Admin, Admin, User)

# Start the panel
systemctl start nebulae-panel

# Visit your panel
http://your-server-ip:8080

That's it. A full cloud panel running in 20MB.

Run Nebulae On Your Phone (Termux)

Turn your Android phone into a cloud host:

# Install Termux from F-Droid or Play Store
# Open Termux and run:

pkg update && pkg upgrade
pkg install nodejs git python
npm install -g nebulae-sdk
nebulae panel install

# Your phone is now a cloud host!

⚠️ Termux Users: Important Notes

Nebulae uses better-sqlite3 which requires build tools on Termux:

# Install build tools first
pkg install python make gcc clang binutils sqlite

# Then install Nebulae
npm install -g nebulae-sdk

If you still get errors, use the proot-distro method:

pkg install proot-distro
proot-distro install ubuntu
proot-distro login ubuntu

# Inside Ubuntu container:
apt update
apt install -y nodejs npm git
npm install -g nebulae-sdk

Run Nebulae On Old Hardware

# Install Ubuntu/Debian
sudo apt update
sudo apt install nodejs npm git
npm install -g nebulae-sdk
nebulae panel install

Works on:

  • ✅ Old laptops (2GB RAM works)
  • ✅ Raspberry Pi
  • ✅ Any PC with Linux
  • ✅ Any VPS
  • ✅ Any cloud provider

CLI Commands

# Environment Management
nebulae env create --name my-env
nebulae env list
nebulae env delete my-env

# Panel Management
nebulae panel install
nebulae panel status
nebulae panel stop
nebulae panel start

# Server Management
nebulae server create --name my-app --type node
nebulae server list
nebulae server start my-app
nebulae server stop my-app
nebulae server delete my-app

# System
nebulae system check
nebulae --help

Supported Server Types

| Type | Description | Default RAM | |------|-------------|-------------| | node | Node.js applications | 512MB | | python | Python applications | 512MB | | minecraft | Minecraft Java Edition | 1GB |

Custom Sizes: Set any RAM, CPU, or storage. Unlimited available.

Why Choose Nebulae?

| Feature | Docker | Pterodactyl | Nebulae | |---------|--------|-------------|-------------| | Footprint | 2GB+ | 2GB+ | 20MB | | Setup Time | 15-30 min | 15-30 min | 30 seconds | | RAM Usage | 1-2GB | 1-2GB | 10-50MB | | Speed | Slow | Slow | 100x faster | | Dependencies | Docker, MySQL, Redis | Docker, MySQL, Node | Node.js only | | Cost | $$$ | $$$ | $0 | | Works on Phones | ❌ | ❌ | ✅ |
