Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

HUI

HUI makes AI coding-agent replies shorter while preserving technical substance.

Identity

| Layer | Value | Purpose | |---|---|---| | Product | HUI | Plugins, skills, /hui, hooks, statusline, global hui command | | npm distribution | next-token-hui | Registry package and npx installation entry | | Repository | everything-ok/next-token | Source, releases, marketplace and skills source |

Install

After first npm release, install with:

# Run current public npm release without global install
npx -y next-token-hui --help
npx -y next-token-hui --dry-run --all

# Install command globally (gives you the `hui` terminal command)
npm install -g next-token-hui
hui --help

# Pin exact release for reproducible installation
npx -y next-token-hui@<version> --dry-run --all

npx -y next-token-hui runs the installer but does not install the hui terminal command — npx is a one-shot runner. To type hui directly in your terminal, install globally with npm install -g next-token-hui first. This is separate from the Claude Code /hui slash command, which works inside a Claude Code session after install (no global install needed for that).

After global installation, use brand command:

hui --help

hui is a package bin alias. Use next-token-hui with npx; do not assume an npm package named hui exists.

Project-rule conflict check

Before initializing HUI rules in an existing repository, scan the managed rule targets without changing files:

node src/tools/hui-init.js /path/to/repo --check-conflicts
node src/tools/hui-init.js /path/to/repo --check-conflicts --json

The scanner reports existing managed target files that do not contain HUI's installation sentinel. It exits 0 when no conflicts exist and 1 when conflicts are found, which makes it suitable for CI. Human and JSON reports are path-sorted; --only <agent> limits the scan. It never writes, appends, or overwrites files. Resolve a reported rule manually, or use hui-init.js --force only when replacing it is intentional.

See INSTALL.md for agent-specific installation, TODO.md for roadmap, and LICENSE for terms.

Command support

Claude Code supports full HUI command lifecycle. /hui and /hui-global keep full compression active for future replies; they do not rewrite existing conversation history, context, or cache. /hui-session --compact creates validated sibling transcript copy and never modifies original Claude Code transcript.

Gemini and OpenCode receive portable prompt commands. Hook-dependent /hui-session and /hui-stats remain Claude Code only until host adapters expose verified local transcript and session-log contracts.

Terminal CLI (hui / npx -y next-token-hui)

All commands verified by strict self-test (isolated sandbox, 1.2.2). Global install gives the hui command; npx -y next-token-hui works without global install.

| Command | What it does | |---|---| | hui --version / -V | Print package name + version | | hui --help | Usage + all flags (incl. --update, --version) | | hui --list / --list --json | Print provider matrix (35 agents) | | hui --doctor / --doctor --json | Diagnose node/npm/hooks/plugin/skills (read-only) | | hui --migrate-from-hui [--force] | Repair a stale standalone install | | hui --dry-run --all | Print the install plan, write nothing | | hui --only claude --with-hooks | Install plugin + standalone hooks (incl. hui-guard.js) | | hui --update / -U | One-command self-upgrade: npm install -g (pull newest package) + claude plugin update + re-copy hooks + re-add skills; preserves active mode | | hui --uninstall / -u | Remove hooks/settings/state files/plugin | | hui --bogus (unknown) | Exit 2 with error |

Session slash commands (inside Claude Code): /hui, /hui lite\|full\|ultra\|wenyan[-lite\|-ultra\|-full], /hui off, stop-hui, /hui-commit, /hui-review, /hui-compress, /hui-session [--compact], /hui-stats [--all] [--since 7d], /hui-init, /hui-help, /hui demo, /hui-constraints, /hui-tdd. Legacy aliases /hui-lite, /hui-ultra, /hui-global and namespace /hui:hui <...> still work; natural-language hui mode / talk like hui / activate hui also trigger.
