Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Angular components for DaisyUI

Demo

About

ngx-daisy-extensions provides Angular-first components built with Angular ARIA and the Angular CDK, styled with Tailwind CSS and DaisyUI.

Installation

1.Install Angular CDK and import overlay styles:

npm install @angular/cdk
@import '@angular/cdk/overlay-prebuilt.css';

2.Install Angular ARIA:

npm install @angular/aria

3.Install Tailwind CSS.

4.Install daisyUI for Angular.

5.Install ngx-daisy-extensions:

npm install ngx-daisy-extensions

6.Register the package with Tailwind in your global stylesheet:

@import 'tailwindcss';
@plugin 'daisyui';
@import 'ngx-daisy-extensions/styles.css';

That file has no component CSS. It only tells your Tailwind build which class names to generate, using your project theme. Tailwind never scans node_modules on its own.

Angular API

Import the component groups into standalone components:

import { DxeComboboxImports, DxeDatepickerImports, DxeDatepickerService, DxeSelectImports, DxeSelectionIndicator } from 'ngx-daisy-extensions';

Select

import { Component, signal } from '@angular/core';
import { DxeSelectImports, DxeSelectionIndicator } from 'ngx-daisy-extensions';

@Component({
  selector: 'app-simple-select',
  imports: [DxeSelectImports, DxeSelectionIndicator],
  templateUrl: './simple-select.html',
})
export class SimpleSelect {
  readonly selectedValues = signal<string[]>([]);
  readonly options = [
    { id: 'important', value: 'Important' },
    { id: 'starred', value: 'Starred' },
    { id: 'work', value: 'Work' },
  ];
}
<dxe-select-root [(value)]="selectedValues">
  <dxe-select-trigger>
    @if (selectedValues().length > 0) {
      {{ selectedValues()[0] }}
    } @else {
      <dxe-placeholder>Select a label</dxe-placeholder>
    }
    <dxe-dropdown-button />
  </dxe-select-trigger>

  <ng-container *dxeSelectPortal>
    @for (label of options; track label.id) {
      <dxe-select-option #option [value]="label.value" [label]="label.value">
        <dxe-select-option-label>{{ label.value }}</dxe-select-option-label>
        @if (option.selected()) {
          <dxe-selection-indicator />
        }
      </dxe-select-option>
    }
  </ng-container>
</dxe-select-root>

Simple combobox

import { Component, computed, signal } from '@angular/core';
import { DxeComboboxImports, DxeSelectionIndicator } from 'ngx-daisy-extensions';

interface Country {
  code: string;
  name: string;
}

@Component({
  selector: 'app-simple-combobox',
  imports: [DxeComboboxImports, DxeSelectionIndicator],
  templateUrl: './simple-combobox.html',
})
export class SimpleCombobox {
  readonly selectedCountries = signal<Country[]>([]);
  readonly searchString = signal('');
  readonly countries: Country[] = [
    { code: 'FR', name: 'France' },
    { code: 'DE', name: 'Germany' },
    { code: 'US', name: 'United States of America' },
  ];

  readonly options = computed(() =>
    this.countries.filter((country) =>
      country.name.toLowerCase().startsWith(this.searchString().toLowerCase()),
    ),
  );
}
<dxe-combobox-root [(value)]="selectedCountries">
  <dxe-combobox-trigger>
    @if (selectedCountries().length > 0) {
      {{ selectedCountries()[0]?.name }}
      <dxe-clear-button label="Clear selected countries" (clear)="selectedCountries.set([])" />
    } @else {
      <dxe-placeholder>Select a country...</dxe-placeholder>
      <dxe-dropdown-button />
    }
  </dxe-combobox-trigger>

  <input type="text" dxeComboboxInput alwaysExpanded placeholder="Search..." [(value)]="searchString" />

  @if (options().length === 0) {
    <dxe-empty-state>No results found</dxe-empty-state>
  }

  <ng-container *dxeComboboxPortal>
    @for (country of options(); track country.code) {
      <dxe-combobox-option #option [value]="country" [label]="country.name">
        <dxe-combobox-option-label>{{ country.name }}</dxe-combobox-option-label>
        <dxe-selection-indicator [class.invisible]="!option.selected()" />
      </dxe-combobox-option>
    }
  </ng-container>
</dxe-combobox-root>

Datepicker

The overlay and calendar grid are date-library agnostic. Provide Angular Material's DateAdapter (native, Moment, Luxon, and so on) and DxeDatepickerService for calendar math, formatting, and month navigation. You still own selection state and the calendar template.

npm install @angular/material
import { Component, inject, signal } from '@angular/core';
import { provideNativeDateAdapter } from '@angular/material/core';
import { DxeDatepickerImports, DxeDatepickerService } from 'ngx-daisy-extensions';

@Component({
  selector: 'app-simple-datepicker',
  imports: [DxeDatepickerImports],
  providers: [provideNativeDateAdapter(), DxeDatepickerService],
  templateUrl: './simple-datepicker.html',
})
export class SimpleDatepicker {
  readonly datepickerService = inject(DxeDatepickerService);
  readonly selectedDate = signal<Date | null>(null);
  readonly inputValue = signal('');
  readonly viewMonth = this.datepickerService.viewMonth;
  readonly monthYearLabel = this.datepickerService.monthYearLabel;
  readonly weekdays = this.datepickerService.weekdays;
  readonly weeks = this.datepickerService.weeks;
}
<dxe-datepicker-root #picker>
  <dxe-datepicker-trigger>
    <input
      type="text"
      dxeDatepickerInput
      placeholder="Pick a date..."
      [(value)]="inputValue"
      (input)="onInput(inputValue())"
      (keydown)="onInputKeydown($event)"
    />
  </dxe-datepicker-trigger>
  <ng-container *dxeDatepickerPortal>
    <dxe-datepicker-header (previous)="prevMonth()" (next)="nextMonth()">
      <div aria-live="polite" class="sr-only">{{ activeMonthAnnouncement() }}</div>
      <div class="font-semibold text-sm">{{ monthYearLabel() }}</div>
    </dxe-datepicker-header>
    <table
      #gridTable
      tabindex="-1"
      dxeDatepickerGrid
      colWrap="continuous"
      rowWrap="nowrap"
      [enableSelection]="true"
      selectionMode="explicit"
      (gridKeydown)="onGridKeydown($event)"
    >
      <thead>
        <tr>
          @for (day of weekdays(); track day.long) {
            <th dxeDatepickerGridColumnHeader [attr.abbr]="day.long">{{ day.narrow }}</th>
          }
        </tr>
      </thead>
      <tbody>
        @for (week of weeks(); track $index) {
          <tr ngGridRow>
            @for (day of week; track $index) {
              <td dxeDatepickerGridCell [selected]="day.selected">
                <button
                   dxeDatepickerGridCellWidget
                  [displayName]="day.displayName"
                  [selected]="day.selected"
                  [today]="day.today"
                  [focusTargetActive]="isFocusTarget(day.date)"
                  [ariaLabel]="day.ariaLabel"
                  (dateSelect)="selectDate(day, $event)"
                >
                  {{ day.displayName }}
                </button>
              </td>
            }
          </tr>
        }
      </tbody>
    </table>
  </ng-container>
</dxe-datepicker-root>

Use dxeDatepickerGridCell for adjacent-month filler cells. Disabled cells are styled automatically; set the inherited grid-cell inputs explicitly:

<td dxeDatepickerGridCell [disabled]="true" [tabindex]="-1">
  {{ day }}
</td>

When keyboard navigation leaves the visible month, call resetFocus() on DxeDatepickerGrid so the grid does not keep a stale active cell.

Development

The demo imports registry sources through a TypeScript path alias. Consumer projects resolve the same import from node_modules/ngx-daisy-extensions.

import { DxeComboboxImports, DxeDatepickerImports, DxeSelectImports } from 'ngx-daisy-extensions';

Publish the Angular package from the workspace root:

npm install
npm run publish:components

Do not publish libs/components directly. The publish script builds Angular Package Format output and publishes dist/libs/components.
