Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

  • Angular Material Integration: Built with Angular Material components

Recent Changes

Version 19.0.18

  • Added support for actionOfDrawer to control drawer behavior programmatically
  • Enhanced drawer service with additional actions (open, close, toggle, resize, setPosition, setContent, setOptions)
  • Improved type safety with ActionOfDrawer enum
  • Better integration with Angular component lifecycle
  • Performance optimizations for drawer animations

Version 15.0.0

  • Added CSS variable documentation for drawer background customization
  • Added support for Angular 15+
  • Added CSS variables --app-background-drawer-outlet and --app-background-drawer for customizing drawer backgrounds
  • Comprehensive documentation for drawer outlet usage
  • Examples for router integration
  • Detailed instructions for passing data to drawer components

Earlier updates

  • Added close (X) button for drawer component
  • Fixed z-index issues in the drawer header
  • Improved drawer service for better state management
  • Added background inheritance support throughout the component hierarchy

Installation

npm install ngx-liburg-frame-side

Usage

// Import the module in your app.module.ts
import { FrameWholeModule } from 'ngx-liburg-frame-side';

@NgModule({
  imports: [
    // ...
    FrameWholeModule
  ],
})
export class AppModule {}

Then in your component template:

<ngx-frame-side></ngx-frame-side>

Using the Drawer with Router Outlets

The ngx-liburg-frame-side library provides a powerful drawer component that uses Angular's named router outlets for dynamic content loading. This approach allows you to load different components into the drawer without direct references.

1. Configure Routes for Drawer

First, define routes with the 'drawer' outlet in your routing configuration:

// app.routes.ts
export const appRoutes: Route[] = [
  // Your regular routes
  {
    path: 'home',
    component: HomeComponent
  },

  // Drawer outlet routes
  {
    path: 'details-panel',
    outlet: 'drawer', // This is the key - specifying the outlet name
    component: DetailsPanelComponent
  },
  {
    path: 'settings-panel',
    outlet: 'drawer',
    component: SettingsPanelComponent
  }
];

2. Open Content in the Drawer

Use the Router to navigate to a drawer outlet route from any component:

import { Router } from '@angular/router';
import { DrawerService } from 'ngx-liburg-frame-side';

@Component({
  /* ... */
})
export class MyComponent {
  constructor(
    private router: Router,
    private drawerService: DrawerService // Optional - normally not needed
  ) {}

  openDetailsPanel() {
    // Navigate to load the details-panel component in the drawer outlet
    this.router.navigate([{ outlets: { drawer: ['details-panel'] } }]);

    // The drawer will open automatically via the router event listener in DrawerService
    // No need to call drawerService.open() manually
  }

  // To open with additional route parameters
  openDetailsWithId(id: string) {
    this.router.navigate([{ outlets: { drawer: ['details-panel', id] } }]);
  }
}

3. Close the Drawer

The drawer can be closed either by:

  1. Using the X button in the drawer (built-in)
  2. Clicking the backdrop (built-in)
  3. Programmatically using the DrawerService:
import { DrawerService } from 'ngx-liburg-frame-side';

@Component({
  /* ... */
})
export class MyComponent {
  constructor(private drawerService: DrawerService) {}

  closeDrawer() {
    this.drawerService.close();
    // This will both close the drawer and clear the router outlet
  }
}

4. Passing Data to Drawer Components

You can pass data to drawer components using:

  1. Route parameters:
// Navigate with parameters
this.router.navigate([{ outlets: { drawer: ['details-panel', itemId] } }]);

// Access in the component
export class DetailsPanelComponent {
  itemId: string;

  constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute) {
    this.route.params.subscribe(params => {
      this.itemId = params['id'];
    });
  }
}
  1. Query parameters:
// Navigate with query parameters
this.router.navigate(
  [{ outlets: { drawer: ['details-panel'] } }],
  { queryParams: { source: 'dashboard', filter: 'active' } }
);

5. Customizing Drawer Background

The drawer component supports custom background colors through CSS variables. You can customize these in your application's global styles:

:root {
  /* Background color for the drawer outlet area */
  --app-background-drawer-outlet: #f5f5f5;

  /* Background color for the drawer component itself */
  --app-background-drawer: white;
}

These variables allow you to control the appearance of different parts of the drawer:

  • --app-background-drawer-outlet: Controls the background of the entire drawer outlet area
  • --app-background-drawer: Controls the background of the drawer component content area
  • --app-background-drawer-outlet-x-button: Controls the background color of the drawer outlet's close (X) button

You can set these variables in your global stylesheet or adjust them dynamically using JavaScript for theme switching.
