Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Node GC viewer

Visualizes the usage of V8 heap spaces after every garbage collector run (both Scavenge and Mark-sweep).

Install

  npm install node-gc-viewer -g

Usage

  node-gc-viewer [node.js options] [ watched script.js ]

  Runs a garbage collector visualizer on localhost:9999 and opens its frontend in your default browser.

  To run backend on different domain or port, use env variables DOMAIN and/or PORT:
  DOMAIN=custom-domain PORT=9999 node-gc-viewer [node.js options] [ watched script.js ]

  To run a coffeescript file, try eg.:
  node-gc-viewer $(which coffee) script.coffee

Sample usage

  node-gc-viewer --max_old_space_size=100 sample_script.js
