Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

node-mysql-query

v0.1.4

Published

A lightweight Promise-based Query generator to be used with node-mysql-helper.

Readme

#node-mysql-query

A query builder and executer that works in well with node-mysql-helper (optional).

##Features/Goals:

  • Escape everything that can't be verified
  • Only 1 dependancy node-mysql-helper which uses felixge's node-mysql and Q Promises.
  • Full functioning queries (except subqueries)
  • Works well with simplified helper library.
  • Easy to understand syntax
  • Portable query builder, can run on client-side (not that you would want to)

##Need to Know

All fields must be enclosed with backticks like `fieldname` (referring to the base table) OR prefixed with the table name table.id.

If you do not use AS the results will always be returned as tablename.fieldname.

Uppercase Mysql Reserved Words will automatically be recognized. If you want to enforce a string rather than a reserved word, you have two options:

  • Do not have the string all uppercase
  • Wrap the string in quotes (single or double)

##Simple Example

//must configure the MysqlHelper before using node-mysql-query

var MysqlHelper = require('node-mysql-helper');
var mysqlOptions = {
	host: 'bessie.com',
	user: 'username',
	password: 'chicken',
	database: 'dbname'
};
//pool 5 connections
MysqlHelper.connect(mysqlOptions, 5);

//now I can use node-mysql-query

var Query = require('node-mysql-query');

  var query=Query('base_table')
    .fields([
      '`id` AS `id`',
      'base_table.id AS `samething`',
      '`firt_name`',
      'table2.fieldname',
      'COUNT(table2.fieldname) AS `grouping`'
    ])
    .join('table2',['table2.idBaseTable','=','base_table.id'],'LEFT JOIN')
    .groupBy('`table2.idBaseTable`')
    .orderBy('`country_name`')
    .limit(10)
    .offset(10); //or go right into .execute()

  query.execute()
    .then(function(results){
      console.log("It's like christmas!", results);
    })
    .catch(function(err){
      console.log(err);
    });

##To do

  • Better documentation
    • functions
    • complex where statements
    • having & grouping
  • A lot more testing
  • Subquery Support
