Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

NodeBB Classifieds & Job Board Plugin

A comprehensive, production-ready Classifieds, Job Board, and Directory plugin for NodeBB (v3.x & v4.x).

Transform designated categories into professional job boards and directories with bumping, auto-expiration, featured VIP gold listings, perpetual editing, and smart filter chips.

🌟 Key Features

  • 📌 Category Classification: Select specific categories to behave as Classifieds/Job Boards via ACP.
  • 🚀 Bumping (Bump to Top): Allow authors to bump their listings back to the top of the category with configurable cooldown intervals (e.g., once every 3 or 7 days).
  • 🔒 Status Management: One-click status toggle between [🟢 Open] and [🔒 Closed / Filled]. Automatically locks topics when closed.
  • ⭐ Featured VIP Gold Listings: Admins can mark top listings as VIP, pinning them with an elegant gold border and highlighted badge.
  • ⏳ Auto-Expiration: Daily cron automatically archives and closes stale listings after X days (e.g. 30 / 60 days).
  • ✏️ Perpetual Author Editing: Grants topic creators perpetual editing rights on their listings, bypassing global forum edit time limits.
  • 🔍 Smart Filter Chips: Real-time category filter bar for fast filtering by job specialization, remote work, or open status.
  • 🚫 Feed Cleanliness: Option to exclude classified listings from global /recent, /unread, and navigation unread badges.

🚀 Installation

npm install nodebb-plugin-classifieds

Or install directly from the NodeBB Admin Control Panel (ACP -> Plugins -> Find Plugins).

⚙️ Configuration

  1. Go to ACP -> Plugins -> Classifieds & Job Board (/admin/plugins/classifieds).
  2. Toggle ON the categories you wish to designate as classifieds (e.g. Job Board, Directory).
  3. Configure your desired bump cooldown, auto-expire days, and feed exclusion options.
  4. Click Save Changes.
