Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

NOVA Twi Translator SDK 🇬🇭

A lightweight, hybrid English-to-Twi translation engine for Node.js. It combines lightning-fast dictionary/phrase mapping with LLM context-refinement via Groq (Llama-3) to produce fluid, natural Twi translations instead of direct mechanical word-for-word transliterations.

Features

  • Hybrid Translation Pipeline: Uses a static keyword/phrase dictionary first, followed by a smart contextual fixer via Groq.
  • Context-Aware Refinement: Automatically replaces raw transliterations with sound, idiomatic Twi.
  • Preserves Technical Keywords: Smarts enough to retain essential words that don't have direct Twi equivalents.
  • Asynchronous Execution: Built from the ground up using modern ES Modules and async/await.

Installation

npm install twi-translator-sdk

Setup & Configuration

Ensure you have your Groq API key set up. The internal AI engine defaults to using an OpenAI-compatible interface pointed at Groq's high-speed inference endpoints.

In your environment configuration, ensure you have access to your key or update it inside your inference config module.

Usage

Direct Translation

Import the unified translate function. It takes care of mapping phrases from your dictionary and automatically cleansing the output using the LLM context fixer.

import { translate } from "nova-twi.js";

const EnglishText = "He smiled, watching a street hawker dash under the concrete awning of a closed shop.";

try {
    const twiResult = await translate(EnglishText);
    console.log("Translation:", twiResult);
} catch (error) {
    console.error("Translation failed:", error);
}

Flow Breakdown

  1. translateToTwi(sentence): Validates the input, sweeps for multi-word phrases defined in keywords.js, and protects spaces using temporary formatting to guarantee accurate key matches.
  2. expert(message): Forwards the processed string directly to the Groq inference model along with system instructions to filter out grammatical flaws and smooth out rough phrasing.

File Structure

  • app.js - Contains the base dictionary mapping logic (translateToTwi).
  • nova-twi.js - Houses the unified translate(sentence) entry point.
  • models/grok-inference.js - Handles the connection wrapper around the Groq/OpenAI client instance.
  • src/keywords.js - Exports your dictionary array or object pairings.
