Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Portable xz-like CLI tool for Node.js — compress, decompress, and handle .tar.xz archives.

Powered by node-liblzma.

Quick Start

# Run without installing
npx nxz-cli file.txt              # → file.txt.xz

# Or install globally
npm install -g nxz-cli
nxz file.txt

Usage

# Compress
nxz file.txt                   # → file.txt.xz
nxz -9e file.txt               # Max compression

# Decompress
nxz -d file.txt.xz             # → file.txt

# Create tar.xz archive
nxz -T src/ lib/ -o project.tar.xz

# List archive contents
nxz -Tl project.tar.xz

# Extract archive
nxz -Td project.tar.xz -o output/

# Benchmark native vs WASM
nxz -B file.txt

Run nxz --help for all options.
