Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

opalesce

v0.2.0

Published

Generate code and other artifacts from AsyncAPI specifications with a plugin-based toolkit.

opalesce

opalesce is the consumer-facing package for the Opalesce generation pipeline. It provides project configuration, plugin definition, shared interaction contract types, Core orchestration glue, and the opalesce executable. Output plugins are separate @opalesce/plugin-* packages with independent releases.

The package is published to the public npm registry as the recommended entry point for consumers.

Quick Start

Install the facade and each plugin required by the project:

pnpm add -D opalesce @opalesce/plugin-typescript

Inside this workspace, use workspace:*:

{
  "devDependencies": {
    "@opalesce/plugin-typescript": "workspace:*",
    "opalesce": "workspace:*"
  },
  "scripts": {
    "generate": "opalesce generate"
  }
}

Create opalesce.config.ts:

import { defineConfig } from "opalesce";
import typescript from "@opalesce/plugin-typescript";

export default defineConfig({
  input: "./asyncapi.yaml",
  output: {
    path: "./generated",
    clean: true,
  },
  plugins: [typescript()],
});

Run generation:

opalesce generate

Projects do not need direct dependencies on @opalesce/cli, @opalesce/config, or @opalesce/core. They add only the independently published output-plugin packages they use.

Public Entry Points

opalesce

Use the root for project config files and plugin definition:

import { defineConfig, definePlugin } from "opalesce";
  • defineConfig authors a path-based opalesce.config.* file.
  • definePlugin authors an orchestration plugin.

Plugin authors receive the complete parser document and one shared interaction contract:

const report = definePlugin(() => ({
  name: "interaction-report",
  generate({ document, interaction }) {
    return [
      {
        path: "interaction.txt",
        contents: `${document.version()}:${interaction.operations.length}\n`,
      },
    ];
  },
}));

The consumer facade does not expose the internal pipeline runner, parser, errors, or their types.

@opalesce/plugin-typescript

Use the independently published TypeScript plugin with the opalesce configuration API:

import { defineConfig } from "opalesce";
import typescript from "@opalesce/plugin-typescript";

The plugin generates deterministic ESM type contracts under types/ by default. It is not a runtime or transitive dependency of opalesce.

opalesce/config

Use the config-only entry when a config file needs only the config helper:

import { defineConfig } from "opalesce/config";

Architecture

opalesce
  -> @opalesce/cli
  -> @opalesce/config
  -> @opalesce/core

@opalesce/plugin-typescript
  -> @opalesce/core

Core owns parsing, the target-neutral interaction contract, and the filesystem-free plugin engine. The TypeScript plugin owns language projection and source rendering. CLI owns config loading and persistence. The facade provides only the public Core and orchestration boundary and does not bundle output plugins.
