Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Effect OPC UA MCP Server

WIP - Work in Progress. Needs optimization.

MCP server for OPC UA NodeSet exploration using Effect. Provides semantic search over OPC UA information models and static guides.

Current Functionality

Tools:

  • opcua_doc_search(query) - Search OPC UA NodeSets (Core, DI, PackML, ADI, AutoID, Machinery, Robotics)
  • get_opcua_doc(documentId, page?) - Retrieve node documentation as Markdown
  • opcua_nodeset_list() - List available NodeSet catalog entries

Installation

NPM Package

npx -y opc-ua-mcp@latest

Status & Limitations

  • WIP: Interfaces may change
  • Performance: Initial load time slow due to NodeSet parsing and indexing
  • Memory: High memory usage during startup
  • Coverage: Limited to subset of companion specifications
  • Optimization needed: Caching, lazy loading, and performance improvements required
