Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

CLI tool that lets you open the specified line/file/folder/repo in GitHub/GitLab/Azure DevOps

Installing

open-in-vcs-cli can be installed using npm:

# install open-in-vcs-cli
npm install -g open-in-vcs-cli

Usage

$ npm install -g open-in-vcs-cli
$ oiv COMMAND
running command...
$ oiv (-v|--version|version)
open-in-vcs-cli/1.0.8 win32-x64 node-v12.16.2
$ oiv --help [COMMAND]
USAGE
  $ oiv COMMAND
...

Open

The open command is the main command open-in-vcs-cli provides. It allows you to open files, directories, repositories in your version control software, based on the remote url.

The open command is also the default command, so it does not need to be specified after oiv.

Opening directories

# open the current directory in your VCS
oiv open .
# or
oiv .

Opening files

# open readme.md
oiv open readme.md
# or
oiv readme.md

Opening files highlighting a single line

# open readme.md, highlighting line 10
oiv open readme.md --startLineNumber 10
# or
oiv readme.md --startLineNumber 10

Opening files highlighting multiple lines
