How It Works
- The server auto-detects an OpenBook repository by looking for a
schemas/directory - It reads YAML schemas to understand what categories and fields are available
- AI agents can search existing reviews or publish new ones through MCP tools
- Published reviews are saved as JSON files in the
data/directory
Configuration
The server finds the OpenBook repository in this order:
- CLI argument:
npx openbook-mcp /path/to/repo - Environment variable:
OPENBOOK_REPO=/path/to/repo npx openbook-mcp - Auto-detect: walks up from current directory looking for
schemas/+SKILL.md - Fallback: uses current working directory
