Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

OpenCode Beautiful Mermaid

An OpenCode plugin for rendering Mermaid diagrams as beautiful Unicode art.

Tool

mermaid-renderer

Render mermaid diagram syntax as Unicode art.

Args

  • diagram (string, required): The mermaid diagram syntax
  • paddingX (number, optional): Horizontal spacing between nodes (default: 5)
  • paddingY (number, optional): Vertical spacing between nodes (default: 5)
  • boxBorderPadding (number, optional): Padding inside node boxes (default: 1)

Returns

  • success (boolean): Whether rendering succeeded
  • output (string): The rendered Unicode diagram
  • rendered (string, optional): Markdown-wrapped display content (present on success)
  • error (string, optional): Error message if rendering failed

Supported Diagram Types

  • Flowcharts: graph TD, graph LR, graph BT, graph RL
  • Sequence Diagrams: sequenceDiagram
  • Class Diagrams: classDiagram
  • ER Diagrams: erDiagram
  • State Diagrams: stateDiagram-v2

Installation

npm (Recommended)

Add the package to your OpenCode config:

{
  "plugin": ["opencode-beautiful-mermaid"]
}

Supported config locations:

  • Global config: ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json
  • Project config: .opencode/opencode.json

Restart OpenCode so the plugin is loaded.

Bundled Skill

The plugin bundles a mermaid-renderer OpenCode skill in skills/mermaid-renderer/SKILL.md.

At startup, the plugin adds its bundled skills directory to config.skills.paths, so OpenCode discovers the skill through the native skill system. Agents can then load it with the built-in skill tool, which displays compactly in the TUI instead of dumping the whole skill body as visible chat text.

Local Plugin

Install directly from this repo:

bun run install:local

This builds and copies the plugin to:

~/.config/opencode/plugins/mermaid-renderer.js

It also copies the bundled skill beside the local plugin so the plugin can register it through skills.paths.

Manual copy option:

mkdir -p ~/.config/opencode/plugins
bun run build
cp dist/index.js ~/.config/opencode/plugins/mermaid-renderer.js
mkdir -p ~/.config/opencode/plugins/skills
cp -R skills/mermaid-renderer ~/.config/opencode/plugins/skills/

Restart OpenCode and the tool will be available automatically.
