Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

opencode-eyesight

OpenCode plugin that lets text-only models work with user-provided and tool-returned images by sending each image to a vision-capable model first, then replacing the image with a text description.

Installation

Add the plugin package to your OpenCode config with the vision model you want to use for image descriptions.

{
  "plugin": [
    ["opencode-eyesight", { "model": "Provider/Model", "promptFile": "/path/to/prompt.md" }]
  ]
}

Example:

{
  "plugin": [
    ["opencode-eyesight", { "model": "lmstudio/Qwen3.6-27B", "promptFile": "./image-prompt.md" }]
  ]
}

For local development before publishing, use the project path instead:

{
  "plugin": [
    ["/Users/chris/development/opencode-eyesight", { "model": "lmstudio/Qwen3.6-27B", "promptFile": "./image-prompt.md" }]
  ]
}

The model value must use OpenCode's provider/model format:

ProviderID/ModelID

Use a model that supports image input. Your active chat model can be text-only; opencode-eyesight will use the configured vision model only to describe images.

Usage

  1. Select a text-only model in OpenCode.
  2. Paste or attach an image.
  3. Send your message.

If the active model does not support image input, the plugin sends the image to the configured vision model and substitutes the generated description for the image in the request sent to the active model. The substitution happens per request, so the original image is preserved in your session history and is sent as-is if you later switch to a vision-capable model.

If the active model already supports image input, the plugin leaves the image untouched.

Images returned by MCP or tool calls (e.g. screenshots) are handled the same way: when the active model is text-only, the description is appended to the tool's output text and the image attachment is removed from the request, while non-image attachments are preserved. Both pasted images and tool images share a process-lifetime cache, so repeated identical images with the same user context are described only once.

When you send a pasted image with an accompanying message, that message is included in the prompt to the vision model so the description is tailored to it. For images returned by MCP or tool calls, the most recent user message is used as context for the description, providing relevant framing.

Options

| Option | Required | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | model | Yes | Vision-capable OpenCode model in ProviderID/ModelID format. | | promptFile | No | Markdown file containing the prompt used when asking the vision model to describe an image. Relative paths resolve from the OpenCode project directory. | | prompt | No | Inline prompt used when asking the vision model to describe an image. Takes precedence over promptFile. |
