Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

opencode plugin: nudge the agent whenever it goes idle so it never stops working

Readme

Opencode: Never Stop Never Stopping

Your agent finishes a task and just sits there — tokens idle, deep thoughts unthought. This plugin makes opencode never stop: when the session goes quiet, it pokes the agent with a nudge from your config and gets it working again. No compute wasted, no babysitting.

npm version

Install

opencode does not install slash commands from plugin packages — and this plugin is switched on by its commands. So install the plugin and the commands, either with the installer script (does both) or via npm plus a manual copy.

From a repo checkout (recommended)

./scripts/install.sh                                            # macOS / Linux
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\scripts\install.ps1 # Windows

This copies the plugin to ~/.config/opencode/plugins/, the commands to ~/.config/opencode/commands/, and writes a default config. Re-run it after pulling updates.

Via npm

opencode plugin opencode-never-stop -g
cp ~/.cache/opencode/node_modules/opencode-never-stop/commands/*.md ~/.config/opencode/commands/

opencode plugin only installs the module and registers it in your config, so the second step is required: without the commands the plugin loads but can never be turned on.

Restart opencode afterwards.

Usage

| Command | Effect | | ------------------------ | ------------------------------- | | /opencode-never-stop [message...] | Start poking this session; optional text overrides the configured nudge message | | /opencode-stop | Stop poking |

Context threshold

Keep an eye on context usage and get the agent to wrap up before the next compaction. Set a threshold and a message; the plugin nudges the agent once the session context crosses the threshold.

| Command | Effect | | ------------------------ | ------------------------------- | | /opencode-never-proceed-after [threshold] [message...] | Nudge this session once its context crosses the threshold | | /opencode-never-proceed-after-stop | Disable the context watch for this session |

A threshold below 100 is a percentage of the model's context window; 100 or more is an absolute token count, e.g.:

/opencode-never-proceed-after 120000 please stop whatever you're doing at the moment
/opencode-never-proceed-after 60 pause your work, persist your progress, and note where you left off

Configure

Create ~/.config/opencode/opencode-never-stop.json:

{
  "checkIntervalSeconds": 15,
  "message": "Have you done all your assignments? If anything is left, continue — or spend some more time double-checking your work."
}

Two other locations are checked first, in order: the OPENCODE_NEVER_STOP_CONFIG environment variable (a path), then <project>/.opencode/opencode-never-stop.json.

| Field | Default | Description | | ---------------------- | ---------------- | ---------------------------------------- | | checkIntervalSeconds | 15 | Idle seconds before the agent gets nudged | | message | the quote above | What to tell the idle agent |

That's it. The agent stays busy, you stay productive.
