Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

openmemo

OpenTUI-based memo app inspired by mattn/memo.

Installation

npm install -g openmemo

Or with other package managers:

pnpm add -g openmemo
yarn global add openmemo

Usage

Launch the TUI:

openmemo

Create a memo:

openmemo new

Other commands:

openmemo list           # List memos
openmemo edit <query>   # Edit memo
openmemo delete <query> # Delete memo
openmemo grep <pattern> # Search memo contents
openmemo cat <query>    # View memo
openmemo help           # Show help

Configuration

Environment variables:

  • OPEN_MEMO_DIR: Override memo storage directory
  • OPEN_MEMO_EDITOR: Preferred editor command
  • VISUAL / EDITOR: Fallbacks if OPEN_MEMO_EDITOR is not set

Supported Platforms

  • macOS Apple Silicon (ARM64)
  • macOS Intel (x64) - via Rosetta 2
  • Linux (x64 & ARM64)
  • Windows (x64)

Note: macOS Intel users can run the ARM64 binary via Rosetta 2, which is automatically used by macOS.
