Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Openwisdom CLI — install social-science agent skills into Claude Code, Cursor, and other harnesses (package manager only, no LLM)

Readme

openwisdom (CLI)

Package manager for Openwisdom social-science agent skills.

npx openwisdom search macro
npx openwisdom list
npx openwisdom install macro-scan -y --providers=claude --scope=project
npx openwisdom update macro-scan -y --providers=claude

Does not call models. Analysis runs in your coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, …).

After you “see the pattern” (Orientation handoff)

Reddit-shaped gaps — ownership, agency levels, stop discipline — are installable as official handoff skills:

# Find the three handoff skills
npx openwisdom search --tag orientation-pipeline

# Install the ordered pack (scope → bridge → closure) + theory refs
npx openwisdom install --bundle=orientation-handoff -y --providers=claude --scope=project

# Or multi-id
npx openwisdom install responsibility-scope responsibility-bridge analysis-closure \
  -y --providers=claude --scope=project

Then invoke those skills in your agent session (not via this CLI).

Commands

| Command | Purpose | |---------|---------| | search <query> | Filter catalog by id, name, description, tags | | search --tag <tag> | Exact tag filter (e.g. orientation-pipeline) | | list | Available skills from catalog | | list --installed | Skills found under known provider paths | | install [ids…] | Copy skill directories into harness skill roots | | install --bundle <id> | Expand a catalog bundle then install (e.g. orientation-handoff) | | update [ids…] | Re-copy from local skills root (same write path as install) |

Common flags

| Flag | Meaning | |------|---------| | --providers <ids> | Comma-separated: claude, cursor, agents, … | | --scope project\|global | Write under --cwd or home | | -y / --yes | Non-interactive; default providers = detect or claude,agents; scope = project | | --bundle <id> | Install catalog bundle (with install) | | --tag <tag> | Exact tag filter (with search) | | --force | Overwrite different SKILL.md content | | --dry-run | Print plan only | | --cwd <path> | Project root for project scope | | --no-deps | Skip catalog references[] | | --no-telemetry | Disable install telemetry for this run | | --help / --version | Self-explanatory |

Dev: monorepo skills source

Install copies from a local skills tree (GitHub fetch not required in this wave):

  1. OPENWISDOM_SKILLS_ROOT → absolute path to skills/
  2. Else detect monorepo root with skills/official
  3. Else error asking you to set OPENWISDOM_SKILLS_ROOT
# from monorepo root
pnpm --filter @openwisdom/providers build
pnpm --filter @openwisdom/schema build
pnpm --filter openwisdom build

node packages/cli/dist/cli.js search macro

# install smoke
$env:OPENWISDOM_SKILLS_ROOT = (Resolve-Path skills).Path # PowerShell
node packages/cli/dist/cli.js install macro-scan -y --providers=claude --scope=project --cwd=$env:TEMP\ow-test

Telemetry (fail-open)

After a successful install (all selected providers wrote OK, at least one fresh install), the CLI may POST an anonymous cli_install_success event. Install never fails because of telemetry.

| Gate | Effect | |------|--------| | --no-telemetry | Skip | | OPENWISDOM_NO_TELEMETRY=1 | Skip | | CI=true / CI=1 | Skip | | OPENWISDOM_TELEMETRY_URL unset | Skip (no default endpoint) | | Network / timeout (~1s) | Silent ignore |

Catalog

Runtime index load order:

  1. Package catalog-snapshot/catalog.json
  2. Scan OPENWISDOM_SKILLS_ROOT / monorepo skills/ if snapshot missing
