Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

orrerix

Installer/launcher for Orrerix.

Define the vision. Walk away. Come back to shipped software.

Orrerix runs fleets of AI coding agents unsupervised, on real software discipline: review gates and green CI before anything merges, work tracked on GitHub and a live task board, your own CLIs and custom workflows — agents follow the process, not the other way around.

npx orrerix # download + launch in one shot
npm install -g orrerix # then run `orrerix` anytime

Orrerix is a native (Tauri) desktop app, so this package doesn't contain the app itself — it fetches the matching GitHub release asset for your platform (Windows installer, macOS .dmg, or Linux AppImage), installs/caches it, and launches it.

The command is deliberately small:

orrerix # launch the installed app (installs it first if missing)
orrerix update # install/refresh the app from the newest release on your channel
orrerix version # print this launcher's version
orrerix help # full usage

Plain orrerix never updates an existing install — reinstalling silently kills a running app, so the update decision belongs to you: run orrerix update when you want a new version.

orrerix update picks the newest release on the channel you are already on — a stable install gets the newest stable, a beta/RC install gets the newest build of either kind — and it refuses to install an older build over a newer one. To switch channels, install that build yourself from the releases page. If it cannot read the version you have installed, it stops and says so rather than guessing.

On Linux the app is a cached AppImage: plain orrerix launches the newest cached build without downloading, and orrerix update fetches a new one. Quit the running AppImage before updating — it cannot be overwritten in place.

orrerix --reinstall remains a deprecated alias for orrerix update. Its meaning changed in v1.1: it used to install the release matching the launcher's own version, and now it installs the newest release on your channel.

Upgrading from loomux-desktop

This package was called loomux-desktop, and the command it installed was loomux. Both were renamed with the app, and loomux-desktop has since been removed from npm altogether — there is no compatibility shim and nothing left to install under the old name. If you have it globally installed, an unpublish does not reach your disk, so remove it yourself:

npm uninstall -g loomux-desktop
npm install -g orrerix

The launcher still recognises an app installed under the old name, so orrerix update will see your existing version and refuse to downgrade it, and a cached Linux AppImage downloaded by the old launcher is still launched rather than re-downloaded. What it will not do is upgrade a pre-rename install in place: the installer keys off the product name, so a fresh Orrerix install lands beside the old app rather than replacing it. Uninstall the old one whenever you're ready — nothing here does it for you.

Requires Node 18+. Builds are unsigned for now; on macOS the launcher clears the quarantine flag for you.
