Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

pagemon-sdk

pagemon-sdk is a lightweight API/network monitoring & alert SDK that automatically tracks API calls, detects slow requests, and monitors network failures with smart throttling and instant alerts.

Installation

Install the SDK via npm:

npm install pagemon-sdk

Getting Started

Step 1: Create Your Project

Log in to PageMon and create a new project.
Add webhook URLs for Discord, slack, or email notifications. You can update these integrations later from your project settings.

Step 2: Get Your App ID

After creating your project, copy your unique App ID from the dashboard. This ID connects your application to PageMon.

Step 3: Network Monitoring Setup

Add pagemon() at the top of any file you want to monitor for network calls:

import { pagemon } from 'pagemon-sdk';

// Place this at the very top of your file
pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID');

// Your component code...
const LoginComponent = async () => {
  // All fetch calls in this file will be automatically monitored
  const response = await fetch('https://api.example.com/login');
  return response;
};

Example Usage in Different Files

login.tsx - Monitor authentication API calls:

import { pagemon } from 'pagemon-sdk';

pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID');

const LoginPage = () => {
  // Monitor all login-related API calls
  const handleLogin = async () => {
    const response = await fetch('/api/auth/login', {
      method: 'POST',
      body: JSON.stringify({ email, password })
    });
    return response;
  };
};

user-profile.tsx - Monitor user data APIs:

import { pagemon } from 'pagemon-sdk';

pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID');

// All API calls in this component are monitored

payment.tsx - Monitor payment processing:

import { pagemon } from 'pagemon-sdk';

pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID');

// Payment API calls automatically tracked

Step 4: Configuration Options

You can configure how notifications are sent:

// Send to backend only (default)
pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID');

// Send to console only (for development)
pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID', { notify: 'console' });

// Send to both console and backend
pagemon('YOUR_APP_ID', { notify: 'both' });

Features

  • Automatic Network Monitoring - Captures all API calls without code changes
  • Slow Request Detection - Alerts when requests take longer than 2 seconds
  • Service Name Mapping - Intelligently identifies services (Firebase, Stripe, OpenAI, etc.)
  • Smart Error Throttling - Prevents spam with intelligent deduplication
  • Zero Setup Required - Just add one line to any file you want to monitor
