Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Interactive installer for the skills shipped in pa-ku/pakuskills

Readme

pakuskills

Interactive installer for the skills shipped in this repo. Pick a destination and some skills, and they land as standard SKILL.md folders your agent tools can load.

Quick start

npx pakuskills

Requires Node.js 20+ and an interactive terminal.

What it does

  1. Lists the skill folders published in SKILLS/ of this repo
  2. Asks where you want them installed
  3. Lets you multiselect the skills
  4. Downloads each one with degit (no git history, no full clone)
◇ Destino: .opencode/skills
◇ Instalando lcp-optimization...
✓ Skill 'lcp-optimization' instalada en .opencode/skills/lcp-optimization

Install targets

| Target | Path | Loaded by | |--------|------|-----------| | opencode (project) | .opencode/skills/ | opencode in this repo | | opencode (global) | ~/.config/opencode/skills/ | opencode, all projects | | Generic Agent Skills (project) | .agents/skills/ | VS Code, Copilot, Codex, opencode | | Generic Agent Skills (global) | ~/.agents/skills/ | same, all projects | | Claude Code (project) | .claude/skills/ | Claude Code in this repo | | Claude Code (personal) | ~/.claude/skills/ | Claude Code, all projects |

The default is .opencode/skills/. The three target families follow the Agent Skills open standard — the same SKILL.md folder works across tools.

Environment variables

| Variable | Effect | |----------|--------| | PAKU_SKILLS_TARGET | Skips the destination prompt. One of opencode, opencode-global, generic, generic-global, claude, claude-global. | | GITHUB_TOKEN | Optional. Raises the GitHub API rate limit from 60 to 5000 requests/hour. | | DEBUG | Optional. Prints the full stack trace on unexpected errors. |

# Example: install into ~/.agents/skills without the prompt
PAKU_SKILLS_TARGET=generic-global npx pakuskills

How to add a skill to the catalog

Skills live in the SKILLS/ folder of this repo, one folder per skill. The installer only lists directories inside SKILLS/, so keep skill folders flat and free of dot-prefixed names.

Each folder needs a SKILL.md whose frontmatter name matches the folder name, or VS Code and opencode silently skip it:

---
name: my-skill
description: What this skill does and when to use it.
---

## Instructions

Development

pnpm install
pnpm check # syntax check
pnpm start # run locally (needs an interactive terminal)

| | | |---|---| | Runtime | ESM only, no build step, single file cli.js | | Package manager | pnpm | | License | MIT |

Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Cause | |---------|-------| | ✕ Este instalador necesita una terminal interactiva | You ran it in a pipeline or CI script. Use an interactive shell, or set PAKU_SKILLS_TARGET and run from a real terminal. | | rate limit de GitHub | Unauthenticated API is capped at 60 requests/hour. Export GITHUB_TOKEN. | | PAKU_SKILLS_TARGET inválido | The value does not match any target. Valid values: opencode, opencode-global, generic, generic-global, claude, claude-global. | | GitHub respondió 404 | The SKILLS/ folder was renamed or moved. Update SKILLS_PATH in cli.js. | | Skill installed but not showing up | The frontmatter name does not match the folder name, or the file is not named SKILL.md. | | Skill already exists prompt | The installer asks before overwriting. No skips that skill. |
