Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

paper-storage

paper-storage is a standalone CLI and TypeScript library for storing, indexing, extracting, and retrieving research papers from a git-backed repository.

Goals

  • installable as a global-style paper-storage command
  • public-package-friendly, with no private keys or app-specific coupling
  • strict TypeScript, linting, and test quality
  • boring local subprocesses for git, python3, and related tools

Commands

  • paper-storage setup

Development

npm install
npm run lint
npm run test
npm run build

Install locally

npm install
npm link
paper-storage --help

Defaults

  • managed tool home: ~/.local/paper-storage
  • managed venv: ~/.local/paper-storage/venv
  • default paper repo path: ~/.local/paper-storage/research-papers

You can override these with PAPER_STORAGE_HOME and PAPER_STORAGE_REPO_DIR.
