Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

pi-aia-workspace

One-command installer for the Ai Applied pi stack — the set of pi packages used to configure Ai Applied workspaces and pi agents in general.

Installs everything through pi's native pi install npm:<pkg> mechanism, so every package is a first-class top-level install registered in settings.json — individually updatable with pi update npm:<pkg>, no bundling, no duplication.

What it installs

| Package | Purpose | |---|---| | pi-vigilant | Spec-memory + feedback-memory: capture, compile, and verify hard specs and behavior feedback | | pi-aia-asf | Agentic Software Factory: gated/automatic software-development flow with mechanical verification | | pi-aia-browser | Browser automation tools (browser_*) for testing web surfaces | | pi-smart-web-search | Web search tools | | pi-smart-fetch | Web fetch/read tools | | pi-vision-handoff | Screenshot vision handoff for text-only models | | pi-intercom | Cross-session coordination | | pi-safe-compact | Safer session compaction | | @oleg_tarasov/pi-compaction-fix | Compaction continuation fix |

Install

Requires pi (npm install -g @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent).

One command (no clone, no GitHub):

npx pi-aia-workspace

Via pi (fetches the package, then runs its installer):

pi install npm:pi-aia-workspace
bash ~/.pi/agent/npm/node_modules/pi-aia-workspace/scripts/install.sh

The installer is idempotent — safe to re-run at any time (it upgrades any package that has a newer version).

Options

./scripts/install.sh --dry-run # show what would be installed
./scripts/install.sh --skip=pi-intercom     # skip specific packages
./scripts/install.sh --only=pi-vigilant,pi-aia-asf   # install a subset
./scripts/install.sh --pin=0.1.3            # pin all packages to a version
PI_AIA_PIN=0.1.3 ./scripts/install.sh       # same via env
PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR=/path ./scripts/install.sh  # install into a specific agent home

After install

Restart pi (or start a new session) so the new packages load, then confirm:

pi list

Development

npm test # runs test-install.sh against fresh sandbox agent homes

Release

npm run release [patch|minor|major]
