Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

pi-coding-agent-test

v0.1.1

Published

Deterministic end-to-end testing for Pi Coding Agent extensions, tools, sessions, and TUI output.

Readme

Summary

pi-coding-agent-test runs tests against real Pi instead of mocking it. Pi loads your extensions, runs real tools and hooks, creates sessions, changes files, and renders terminal output.

The test controls the initial prompt and scripted assistant responses. It does not fake tool execution or extension behavior. Each run gets a fresh session and workspace, records artifacts, and can be replayed without starting Pi.

Executable behavior contracts live in ./test/; demo scripts live in ./scripts/.

Scenario settings

PiIntegrationTest supports explicit skills, systemPrompt, and appendSystemPrompt settings. Skills are loaded from the listed files or directories even though ambient skill discovery is disabled for isolated runs.

Installation

Install the test package:

npm install --save-dev pi-coding-agent-test

The package provides the TypeScript API and the pi-test CLI. Use it with Vitest, Jest, Mocha, node:test, Playwright Test, or another Node.js test runner.

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 22.19 or newer;
  • Pi installed with the pi executable available on PATH.

Install optional Pi skills

pi install npm:pi-coding-agent-test

Runnable integration tests

From a checkout of this package, run the demonstration integration tests with real Pi:

npm run test:examples

For the interactive terminal demo, watch a real Pi TUI live until you stop it with Ctrl+C:

npm run demo:live

To replay the checked-in recording offline:

npm run demo:replay

| Test | Covers | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | | evaluation-smoke | Isolated workspaces, built-in tools, filesystem effects, and artifacts | | extensions | Custom extensions, tool selection, and runtime registration | | raw-tooling-renderer | Stable raw tool-call and tool-result rendering | | streaming | Streamed text, partial tool-call JSON, and real tool execution | | native-tui | Pi's native renderer and visible terminal assertions | | replay | All built-in tools, large TypeScript edits, and offline replay |
