Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Pi extension that turns terminal-dropped image paths into inline image attachments

Readme

pi-image-drop

npm version Pi package MIT license

A Pi coding-agent extension for macOS terminal workflows. Drop an image file into the Pi prompt and it is displayed as [Image #1] while you write, then submitted as a real image attachment instead of a raw file path.

Features

  • Converts terminal-dropped local image paths into image attachments.
  • Shows numbered placeholders such as [Image #1] in the prompt editor before submission.
  • Supports multiple images and preserves surrounding prompt text.
  • Handles macOS shell escaping, quotes, spaces, Unicode spaces, tabs, and multiline input.
  • Supports PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, and BMP files.
  • Ignores missing, unreadable, invalid, empty, or over-50-MB files.
  • Uses Pi's image resize/conversion pipeline when available.

Requirements

  • Pi coding agent with extension support.
  • A terminal that provides dropped file paths, such as macOS Terminal, iTerm2, or Ghostty.
  • A Pi version with ctx.ui.onTerminalInput() and image input support.

Install

Install the published package through Pi:

pi install npm:pi-image-drop

Try the latest package for one run without changing your settings:

pi -e npm:pi-image-drop

Pin a reviewed npm release in shared configuration:

pi install npm:[email protected]

You can also install directly from GitHub:

pi install git:github.com/TommyFork/pi-image-drop

After installing, restart Pi or run /reload.

Install from a local checkout

git clone https://github.com/TommyFork/pi-image-drop.git
cd pi-image-drop
pi install .

For development or review without installing:

pi -e ./extensions/image-drop.ts

Usage

  1. Start Pi with the extension installed.
  2. Drag an image file into the prompt editor.
  3. The dropped path should immediately become [Image #1].
  4. Add text or more images as needed.
  5. Submit the prompt. Pi receives the images as attachments.

A dropped path that cannot be read or processed remains ordinary text when submitted.

Development

The extension is loaded directly as TypeScript by Pi and has no build step.

git clone https://github.com/TommyFork/pi-image-drop.git
cd pi-image-drop
pi -e ./extensions/image-drop.ts

Before opening a pull request, verify the package contents:
